Thyroid Cancer numbers?

I am watching undercover boss and one of the men has thyroid cancer. It was then announced that only another 3 people in the uk have this. With what I have read on here surely that can't be right.

Stourie, it's rubbish! There are considerably more than 3 thyCa patients on this forum let alone in the UK. ThyCa incidences are growing worldwide but it is still relatively rare.

Dont watch the program, but possibly he has a rare type of thyroid cancer, and it meant that only 3 people in the UK have that specific cancer as opposed to all thyroid cancers

I didn't watch the programme but more women than men get thyroid cancer because it is a hormone related cancer. There are 4 types of thyroid cancer and perhaps his man had one of the rarer thyroid cancers, Medullary or Anaplastic.

Hi, I do hear what you are saying but it still said that only another 3 people had thyroid cancer in the UK. Even if it was a rare one it would still be counted, I would have thought.

Hi Stourie,

Fair comment. Which episode of Undercover Boss did you watch?

Hi I think it was on Tuesday that I saw it. I don't usually watch daytime tv but am recovering from a hip replacement so have a lot of time on my hands and watching things that I don't usually see.

Hi Stourie,

I've watched the last 2 episodes (5 & 6) of Undercover Boss (UK version) but I did not see anything about thyroid cancer. It's a shame because I would have complained to the production company but without seeing the episode and knowing which one it was I cannot do so. If you do remember which one it was I'll go online and watch on 4 OD.

Hi ThyroidThora,

I can't remember which one it was but it was either on Tuesday, Wednesday or Thursday. I just can't remember the company or what they did but think that it was in Plymouth but couldn't say 100%. The chap who had the cancer travelled to London every month for treatment and used to drive lorries for the company but couldn't do that any more so worked in the warehouse?

I'm sorry but that is all that I can remember. Thyroid brain and all that.

Hi Stourie,

I've had a look on the channel 4 website and I cannot find the episode. On 4od there is an episode about the Jockey Club but I watched this and I don't recall anything about someone having thyroid cancer. Not to worry though, and I'll keep looking.

Not what you're looking for?
