Has anyone completed a hair mineral test and was it useful?
I'm considering working further with a nutritionist who seems to have good understanding of the thyroid/adrenal/gut? issues that seem to be plaguing me, and her Unique Selling Point seems to be hair mineral testing. I've googled, and found people saying it's great, useful, can show if you have high toxic elements/low beneficial minerals, and also the balance between minerals; and others saying it's phony, scam, don't waste your money.
As we all know, perceived medical wisdom doesn't necessarily give the best answers so I'm considering other options but this lady is quite expensive and I don't want to pour more money down the drain...

I have a nutritionist friend who recommended me something which sounds similar...I feel a bit like you and I have not gone for it as yet as I'm not sure either! (This is probably not that helpful in answering your question I'm afraid!)
Well, you are probably more on-the-ball than I am but thought I'd share my experience so you can avoid the same. I chose a nutritionist who offered hair analysis but when went to the appointment she just had a list of questions which she asked and ticked my responses too based on what I eat and drink. She then told me, based on that, what vitamins/minerals I was probably short on. It was v annoying because I already knew that! To have the hair analysis would have cost a further £60 which was more than I felt able to pay at the time (around 25 years ago) and my trust had been eroded by what seemed to me an unfairness, because her promotion was written in such a way that it led you to believe the hair analysis was part of the consultation. Sorry that's so negative but I'm hoping you can ask questions before you go along to make sure you get what you want. Best of luck
I really don't like that kind of thing thyr01d, it feels like taking advantage of other people's need for an answer doesn't it? I've no objection to people being properly paid for their time but they should be up front about what will and won't be done. Thanks for your reply, I will bear that in mind!
