I am considering trying Indivina HRT due to it being hair growth friendly as I have hair thinning, and also to prevent further bone loss ( I have early onset osteoporosis). If anyone who is hypo and uses Indivina, I would be grateful if they could advise on how successful they are finding it, particularly hair growth, elevation of menopausal symptoms, no weight gain issues and thyroid levels.
I am not familiar with Indivina but it has been proven that taking oestrogen orally carries more risk by causing dangerous clotting factors in the liver, than using a transdermal gel, patch or spray which avoids the liver completely.
Also ensure this brand is body-identical which means the hormones have the same chemical structure (shape) as your bodys own natural, so lessens the chance of unwanted side effects.
Synthetic progesteron (progestins/progestogens) negative influences are binding to glucocorticoid and androgen receptors (cortisol & testosterone). Body-identical progesterone is available as oral micronised progesterone.
Thank you radd. I have been prescribed Oestrogel and Utrogestan oral pill. My query about Indivina is because it can help with hair thinning, it however, is a pill and not subdermal. I think sticking to subdermal seems the better option.
I haven’t heard that oral oestrogen is better at thickening hair than transdermal.
Transdermal is the fashionable preferred at present because as said above by bypassing the liver it reduces the blood clot risks, but as this also reduces effects on lipids and cardio health I have read doctors are switching back to prescribing oral that is now believed to be better for hypertension.
It’s a guessing game isn’t it. I suffer hypertension but am not allowed oral oestrogen because of a previous stroke so am prescribed the transdermal anyway which has helped thicken my hair and build improved BMD. Can't moan too much 😁
Hi radd. It's good that you're having success. I need to just try the Oestrogel and Utrogestan. Firstly, I need to try and sort my thyroid meds out as I'm on NDT and not feeling too brilliant on it at the moment. Once I've regulated that a little better, I will take the plunge 😁🏊♀️
You might find HRT helps thyroid hormone meds work better. I did. It was like the missing peice of the jigsaw.
Oh, that is good news! I hope that's the case for me. If I may ask, how many pumps of Oestrogel do you use. I have been told to use use 2 by the GP as a starting point. Someone else tells me only 1/2 a pump if you have thyroid issues.
