Hi

I have Hashimoto plus am a type two diabetic,Asthma,High blood pressure and no spleen,I also have only one kidney which has stage two disease and my Kidney specialist has written to my GP and recommended I take permanent Antibiotics as he is concerned that future infections may harm my kidney more,I’m not sure what to do regarding this as my GP said do some research yourself and think about the pros and cons,My Daughter is of the opinion that I could get the same protection from taking high dose garlic and dropping the daily aspirin I take ( daughter is a studying medical herbalist).

I have been taking them after Gp prescribed them but not sure about long term and wondering if anybody else has had the same dilemma.

It really is a case of weighing up the pros and cons and ultimately you making the choice.

I don't know what you take the aspirin for so that is something you will have to take into consideration.

I am on permanent antibiotics as a prophylaxis. I have lung disease (COPD and bronchiectasis) and I have colonised pseudomonas and haemophilus. I was getting frequent infections culminating in having pneumonia and pleurisy at the same time a few years ago. Following this my lung consultant suggested that I start taking Azithromycin 3 times a week - standard treatment for bronchiectasis patients - as a way to help protect against infection. I have done this and been on them for about 5 years now and they do the job well.

I also do a lot to protect myself and boost my immune system - my daily supplements to this end include garlic liquid (Allicin - look into this as compared with ordinary garlic supplements), Vit C, D3 (enough to keep my Vit D level at the top of the range recommended by the Vit D Council, Vit D Society and Grassroots Health, ie 150nmol/L) and during the months of October - March I take the homeopathic "flu prevention remedy" - oscillococcinum - which is once a month. I also use Oil of Oregano if I feel something isn't right and that I might be getting an infection. This all works well for me and I haven't had a lung infection since and I don't remember the last time I had a cold. I choose not to have the annual flu vaccine and I've never had flu.

This all works well for me but of course there's no guarantee that it will work the same for everyone.

Thank you for replying I forgot to say I have Polycythemia and take the Apirin for that as it causes my blood to be to thick.

I also supplement with Oral spray Vit D Vit B and magnesium cream.

I cannot take Penicillin and a couple of other Antibiotics so I was concerned that as there are limited Antibiotics I can take that they would become ineffective over a long time period it’s such a lot to consider and I take so many medications I would rattle if you shook me .

I will look into the Garlic liquid you mention and talk it over with my daughter

Thanks again for taking the time to reply.
