Many of us are familiar with PDF documents. But, I suspect, mostly shorter ones, one or a few pages. You can just scroll up and down to find what you want.
Trouble is, when the document has hundreds of pages, scrolling up and down doesn't help much!
If the document's author has taken the effort, you might find that there are tools to help navigation. In this example, a Table of Contents.
This first picture is a page of a document, and a menu showing various options such as Table of Contents.
Many PDF viewers have similar facilities but they are not always so easy to find or use – especially if you are using a mobile phone.
You have to fully download the document for the Table of Contents to be usable. Just viewing in a web browser is not sufficient.
