Saving Web Pages as PDFs

Just a quick post. If you want to save web pages, the best way for most of us, most of the time, is to save them as PDFs. (PDFs retain clickable links - most other options don't.)

I've created a little PDF to explain how to do this. This is mainly targetted at people who use Firefox but also mentions Safari. The ideas work across many browsers but details vary. A reply has mentioned that you can do the same in Chrome.

Thanks helvella very useful. I often screenshot something of interest so I can come back to it but often never get around to it.

Thank helvella, this will help a lot of people. It works in Chrome too, but it took me years of copying and pasting before I discovered it about three months ago 😂

Thanks! That should help many more people as Chrome seems very popular (at least, very widely used!)

Does that include the "Simplify" feature?

Sorry for not replying sooner! I used the Save feature just now, which reminded me. What I got was the page in the screenshot. To the left of the screenshot was the actual text I was saving. I tried saving different things and always got this screen, so I guess the Simplify feature isn't there.

The "Simplified" option is, I fear unique to Firefox. :-(

It isn't even an option in Firefox for Windows! But it does the same simplification (drops the left and right columns) automatically.

Nor does Safari help - no such option and it actually does print the left and right columns.

Thank you! I did already know about the print to pdf option, but didn't use it much, because of the amount of paper it used (as it included all the rubbish and blank space). However I didn't know that Firefox didn't include the rubbish and was much more economical with paper when you printed.

I always learn something from your posts, in this case, not what I expected.
