My GP has prescribed Citalopram for depression but I am worried about taking it with Levothyroxine. The GP says it is fine but I am so sensitive to drugs. Has anyone here taken it ?

Citalopram and levothyroxine
I take my Levo in the morning and Sertraline at night. I too am sensitive to drugs. Just a thought but it may be once you are on Levothyroxine your depression may lift as it’s one of the symptoms of hypothyroidism. My sertraline ( an SSRI like citalopram) is for PTSD ( long story), but when I feel under medicated there is definitely a depressive feeling that lifts immediately when my dose is raised. You perhaps could discuss with your GP just taking the Levothyroxine to begin with🤷♀️
Thank you for your reply. I have been on levothyroxine for many years; the depression is caused by events in my life at the moment so I am worried about taking something that may affect my thyroid levels as I think they are ok at the moment.
Well what are your latest TFT levels. You could need your Levo raised instead of Citalopram. And life events can affect your thyroid levels. It’s a tricky balance to get right. If you have some recent blood results post them here.
I’m not against anti depressants, I’ve been taking them for 20yrs. But since being on this forum with hypothyroidism I have learnt that stressful events can cause changes in thyroid levels so checking those first make influence your decision to start citalopram
