Fine TSH but lowish t4?

10 years ago I had slightly elevated TSH (4.3 ref. 0.27 – 4.20 mIU/L) and I started experimenting with iodine, NDT, t3 which never put me into good shape. I had some good periods, especially while trying Tyhroid-S but never good enough.

Years ago my without taking anything (before I started experimenting) T4 was always 16-18 (ref. 9.01 - 19.05) and t3 4.5-5 (ref. 2.43 - 6.01) while TSH 3.5-4.3.

Now after a year of not taking anything these are my results:

TSH: 2.46 (ref. 0.35 - 4.94)

T3: 3.98 (ref. 2.43 - 6.01)

T4: 11.73 (ref. 9.01 - 19.05)

It seems that TSH never came back to old one after I stopped NDT. Or maybe iodine helped that. But still I am not sure if this is ok because now t4 and t3 are even lower. Do you think these are ok results?

Impossible for anyone but yourself to say. How do you feel?

You made a mistake experimenting with iodine if you didn't test first to see if you were deficient. Iodine solution used to be used to treat hypERthyroidism before the current radioactive iodine treatment. It can cause hypOthyroidism or make hypOthyroidism worse.

I feel tired with sleep problems, hair loss.

I made urine loading test years ago, 15 years ago I was for a few years iodine free diet (listened wrong person in gym who said absolutely no salt) so I was pretty sure I was deficient. Once I started iodine I felt very good, tons of energy, better than any coffees. But then this affect started to vanish and I started felling worse and my tsh started rising so I stopped.

Iodine test should be non-loading which establishes existing levels.

Your results may show your thyroid is struggling but before doing anything I'd test your key nutrients:

Vit D

B12

Folate

Ferritin

Well, they certainly wouldn't be OK for me. But we're all different, so it depends how you feel. There are no blood levels which we should absolutely have, I can only tell you that the average euthyroid levels are TSH around 1, and the Frees around mid-range. But through the population as a whole, there are many, many variations. So, at this point, it all comes down to 'how do you feel?' :)
