How long should I wait to have a thyroid panel blood test after having COVID?

I ordered the advanced thyroid panel blood test from Medichecks... and then I got COVID 😭 I’m on day 11, and I've finally tested negative. It’s been quite rough.

My question is: does anyone know how long I should wait before my blood test? Will having had COVID again affect my results? I don’t want to wait too long as I’d like to go up on my dose as soon as I’m feeling okay again (as I've been putting it off for a while and I'd like to get my symptoms cleared up before my final year of uni!).

I was just wondering when I should have the blood test done, in case having COVID affects the results - I heard it can suppress the TSH level (or make the thyroid inflamed and become hyper), but I’m not sure how true that is!

Any advice is welcomed, thank you.

I don't think anyone knows how having Covid will ultimately affect the individual or any blood tests they have. We should wait a few weeks after any acute infection (including something as generally innocuous as a cold) before thyroid testing, so it's anyone's guess how long you should wait after Covid. Even having the Pfizer booster affected my levels and I had to adjust my dose of thyroid meds and I'm still taking a lower dose now, 9 months later, than before the booster, but there's not many of us who have reported that, so it's just a total unknown.

Thank you Susie - I'll wait a few weeks then and stay on the 25mcg dose for now, I guess!
