Hi everyone, my 16 year old daughter had blood tests done at the doctors on the 3rd. Her results have been back nearly a week now and the doctor still hasn't viewed them so we still can't get a copy 😤 I've never had to wait this long for mine! It's doing my head in because her gcses have started now so if there are any deficiencies or thyroid issues showing then I want to start addressing them a.s.a.p. I explained at the time that she has anxiety, is tired and having problems concentrating not to mention she's been self harming 😔 They knew she had exams coming up too. We already had to wait 2 weeks for the tests to be done in the first place. Does anyone else have to wait this long?

My results are usually available for me to pick up a copy a day or two after they come back, doctors usually review them on the day they are received.
As it's so important for you to have these results, in your shoes I'd just make an emergency on the day appointment and ask the doctor for them, if they don't like the fact that you've taken up an appointment then point out that you'd explained the situation and as the results have been back a week then there has been more than enough time for a doctor to review them and make them available to you.
Thanks, I think you're right, I'll have to be more assertive. I'm always reluctant to be too pushy as I know our NHS is stretched but it does seem a very long time to wait, especially as I've been told the results are there waiting.
It's even more annoying because now she is 16, they won't give me any info without her permission and due to her social anxiety, she won't phone or ask herself so everytime I go to ask, I have to take her with me 😔
I phoned up and even the receptionist was annoyed it was taking so long so got the doctor to phone me. Obviously not got a copy of the results yet but over the phone she said my daughter is ferritin deficient and has low vit d. I'm so relieved to know that her problems may have a cause and we might be able to improve things for her. If I hadn't had the issues I've had though, I would never have known to go and demand blood tests because the doctor never suggested them! 😒
I am already giving her some supplements but I'm being cautious regarding dosages until we have results x
Hey Natchap 👋 I’m sorry you’re being kept waiting!! We’re in the same boat! GP has mucked up 3 blood tests. All I know so far is that her FT3 is below range and TSH around 1 😩
So I’m getting private’s done. Just waiting for an appointment confirmation for a nurse to visit as the finger pricks are a nightmare! 😩
My daughter has just gone through her progression exams to see if she’s able to carry on with 2nd year A levels. And we already know she’s failed Law 😩 But what can we do? How are our poor babies expected to cope when us adults can barely hold on 😢
Can you get a email for your surgery? That’s what my daughter did in order to give permission for me to talk about her.
My GP wasn’t available for the last test results and so I got ‘anyone’ to phone me and she was so righteous and arrogant! She even said it didn’t matter that her FT3 was out of range because she’s sure the ranges are different for children!! I don’t know how I kept my shit together when I’m constantly dealing with imbeciles with a much better education than myself!! 🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬
Keep us updated NatChap 🤗

So, in my view, not everything in it is desirable.
Phone and ask for the Practice Manager. Explain the situation and ask her/him to make sure the results are read today and you are phoned with the results.
I'm not sure she'd drink it anyway, she hates fizzy/sparkling drinks but I'll bear it in mind x
Thanks everyone..sorted it x
