can I take t3 with levo?

I want to ask experts out there. I want to know if I can take t3 at same time as levo?

Also, do you have to follow same dosing protocol with t3 as with levo? I.e.empty stomach 30-60 mind before food, 2 hours after food, 4 hours before other meds.

Yes, you can take T3 with levo. And, to be on the safe-side, it's best to treat it exactly like levo. One hour is better than half an hour.

Some meds and supplements need to be taken 4 hours away from thyroid meds but many are OK with a 2 hour gap.

Which supplements are better left for 4 hours, or, which can be taken after 2 hours. I have vit d, vit c with zinc, vit b complex, liquid b12, magnesium, omega3,

4 hour gap needed with:

Vit D, magnesium, iron, calcium, magnesium.

2 hour gap for any other supplements.

If you are on levo, and want to add T3, my endocrinologist recommended reducing levo by 25mcg for every 5mcg T3 taken.

Levo doesn't need reducing in every case. If a patient's FT4 is high then yes, but if it's only around 50-60% of range then no, we add T3 then see where we are 6-8 weeks later.

I, with great difficulty , split my dose to take one half in the morning with Levo and the appropriate time before food and taking supplements. The other half I take 12 hrs. later with or without food but still make sure that supplements are 4hrs away from that dose. In the information I got from the pharmacy it says that Lio can be taken with or without food and Levo. The information from various other sources are mixed on that. Some say it does not matter, others that it should be taken 1 hr. before food and away from Levo. I'm still experimenting but I hope that I can at least take the Levo with the Lio because otherwise it gets really too complicated for me. Maybe it is more important to do whatever you do consistently.

I agree about the timings getting complicated! I’m in the early months of adding T3 twice daily. I take T4 and T3 in the early hours, since I always have to visit loo. That’s easy! However, the second dose is a problem. I do my best to take it two hours after a meal and an hour before the next one, but since my daily schedule is very variable, it’s tricky. If I’m out socially, and am offered a cup of tea or similar, it seems churlish to decline! Haven’t yet found the answer. Equally I haven’t yet been brave enough to try taking T3 in one dose. Now that would simplify matters!
