I've now been prescribed 10mcg of T3 on top of 125 mcg of Levo. I take my Levo at night before I go to bed. My question is, can I now take my T3 at the same time as my T4 or should I separate them and take my T3 in the morning? x
When do I take my T3?: I've now been prescribed... - Thyroid UK
When do I take my T3?
I have also been prescribed 10mcgs T3 and was told by my Endo to take it in the morning 30 minutes or so before breakfast.I take my T4 Levo last thing at night before going to sleep.
Good luck ...hope all goes well and will be pleased to hear how you get on.
Hi, thanks for this, I thunk I'll do the same. I'll start tomorrow! Have you started yours yet? How's it going if you are!
Yes....have been on it 9 days.....unfortunately it seems to be taking longer than I anticipated for me to feel good, but have been told here today that it may take three weeks so it's early days yet.I am only on 75mcgs Levo so it may be different for you as you are on a higher dose at 125 mcgs aren't you.I had a really busy week at the same time as starting on the T3 and had no time to relax, but all has quietened down now so shall hope to feel better......I need to be patient.I will keep in touch.X
You can take both together. It makes life easier.
T3 is highest at night in a "normal" person, so I take mine at bedtime. Also helps me sleep well, although some people find the opposite.
I didn't know that T3 is highest at night, I don't suppose you have a reference for this at all, or if anyone else does. In Paul Robinsons book there's a lovely description of the effect of the highest dose of T3 taken first thing in the morning, making the analogy of a wave washing over a sea wall.
Hi Aurealis, yes there is a paper which has been posted on here from time to time showing TSH, T4 and T3 levels in a 'normal' person throughout the day. If no one replies to you here perhaps you could post it as a new question or ask Rod - I know he knows about it. Maybe try looking back in my history of questions as I may have posted something about it, I'm not sure. Sorry I can't be more helpful right now. X
Thank you diamond fire. I found TSH rhythm but couldn't find T3
I take mine together in the mornings! On same dose as you. I've had no probs taking them together! X
Interesting. I'm starting on 20mcgs T3 next week and was wondering when to take it. I may take mine at night with my 75mcgs thyroxine. I guess it may be trial and error. Fingers crossed for everyone here, hope we all feel better! X
I've been advised to take my meds staring first thing in the morning and not at night, i would take the t4 first thing then the t3 at lunch time
I took my first lot last night together with my usual dose of Levo. I must admit, I woke up a few times in the night. I was worried about adding the T3 so whether this made me wake up, who knows! I'll see how I get on over the next week x
Since T3 has a half life of 4-6 hours, it will be “burned off “ until morning if you take it in the evening. You will want to get the energy from T3 in the morning if you don‘t work on a night shift. T4 has a half life of 6-10 days, so you can take it in the evening. I would put it under the tongue when going to bed. in this way you can take it even if you have eaten late in the evening (not recommended). If taken sublingually, it won‘t interfere with food or other medication which is swallowed.
