Posted this in an old thread, but realised it needs its own, would appreciate reassurance

My son’s results (age 20) all thyroid counts and antibodies showing no sign of any thyroid or autoimmune according to Medichecks doctor comments which is great news.

CRP HS 0.82 mg/L

TSH 1.49 mU/L (Range: 0.27 - 4.2)

Free T3 5.60 pmol/L (Range: 3.1 - 6.8)

Free Thyroxine 15.3 pmol/L (Range: 12 - 22)

Thyroglobulin Antibodies 12IU/ml (Range <115)

TPO Antibodies <9 IU/ml (Range <34)

Fasting sample was taken 3pm (only time I could grab him) he eats a fairly good diet but could definitely eat more veg! No meds, no supplements yet.

Vit D 68nmol/L (50-75 Adequate)

Folate 4.24 ug/L (range >3.89)

B12 Active 71.4 pmol/L (Range 37.5-150)

Ferratin 154.0 ug/L (Range: 30 - 400)

Medichecks doc recommends 400iu Vit D to maintain levels, help with sports performance.

Really good for peace of mind. But is there anything I've missed? Thanks 🙏

Folate is a bit low

Vitamin D should be a bit higher as it’s summer….does he supplement October to April as Government recommend?

Thanks for this, no he doesn't but we've just been online to order some as per previous advice for me and my daughter. He says he'll eat more green veggies and cereals to address the folate. I hadn't realised the gov recommendation was for everyone. GP has never mentioned it. Thanks again, really appreciate your time.

Current advice on vitamin D

In the UK during autumn and winter everyone is advised to take a supplement containing 10 micrograms (400 international units) of vitamin D a day to support general health and in particular bone and muscle health. This is because we cannot make vitamin D from sunlight at this time of year.

This advice is particularly important for those who have limited exposure to sunlight during the spring and summer, such as those in residential and nursing care homes and those in prisons; and those who usually wear clothes that cover up most of their skin when outdoors. These groups are more at risk of not having enough vitamin D. Those with dark skin (such as people who have an African, African-Caribbean or South Asian background) may also not get enough vitamin D from sunlight. All of these groups are advised to take a vitamin D supplement all year round in line with usual government dietary advice.
