While there are a few, we don't have many members in the UAE.

You need to be sure of the laws surrounding importation if you are buying abroad. And which countries will accept a UAE prescription (or whatever your doctor can write if they are registered elsewhere, if that is acceptable to the UAE authorities).

From what I can gather:

Import of medicines require prior authorization and approval of the health ministry.

Prescription must accompany all packages.

Prescription drugs should be no more than 3 months’ supply.

Many thanks helvella. It is as you state and controlled tightly. With some creative flexibility on dosages by a nice doctor, there can be workarounds. Narcotics, psychotropic and anything of controlled list would be dicing with death, literally. Liothyronine as a prescription medicine would indeed need to be substantiated by way of prescription.
