Hello everyone šŸ‘‹ I have just arrived back from Turkey, Tiromel is available in all the pharmacyā€™s that I went in, I just showed them one of the blister packs from the box.

Shame it is not that easy in the UK.

It is a pity that in UK we cannot source our T3 or T4 without a prescription, Nor do we have a decent price that's affordable.

Why do other countries permit people who have hypothyroidism to pay over-the-counter for a pack without the need of a prescription!

Donā€™t know Shaws but long may it last - at least in the meantime there is a place the stuff can be got at a decent price; whilst the opposing view of the inherent dangers of taking unprescribed meds is maintained. I was out in Saudi Arabia a few years ago during my ā€œmigraine phaseā€ when I ran out of meds. I bought (at the price of Ā£35 per tablet) something the pharmacist recommended. After purchasing I had second thoughts and did not take them. When I next saw my cardiologist she said ā€œjust as well you did not take them. Chances are you would have had a heart attackā€. Obviously I have no idea whether that would have happened BUT there are obvious dangers in taking unprescribed meds. T3 has its own potential difficulties. Itā€™s just not going to happen in the UK that we can purchase it OTC but a very definitive change in prescribing methodology would considerably smooth our passage and cost us nothing - other than our taxes! Yay!

Usually - if we're hypothyroid and symptoms not being resolved we want to trial options.

We are also aware of the condition we've been diagnosed with and options with which to trial if we're still unwell.

T3 loves my body as it has resolved ALL symptoms. T4 was awful and gave me severe palpitations.

I know of a country in which you can ask the pharmacist for a medication and they will source it for you.

GPs or endocrinologists in UK may not prescribe alternatives, I know for a fact that one of the GPs in my surgery had no idea as one of his comments to me was that T3 converted to T4. That's when he queried why my T4 was low. He knew I was prescribed T3 but seemed to think it converted to T4,

I'm aware they've also withdrawn NDTs despite it being used since 1892 and saving lives - without blood tests and many lives were restored.

If person is hypothyroid and levo is not resolving symptoms we want to know the reason why.

If we have a headache we take paracetamol or an equivalent and we don't need a prescription. If a person took quite a number of paracetamols they'd feel unwell or have to go to the A&E

Please donā€™t underestimate the level of your very enterprising (self) educated choices plus many other characteristics necessary to do what you have achieved. Like yourself, many people have led the way on this forum and others (like myself) are eagerly following. However I suspect that the numbers on this forum remain a small proportion of those actually affected by this (can I swear?) awful situation. Itā€™s clear to me that whilst there is effort being made and information available when you really start looking - not everyone looks, not everyone feels able to challenge and there are many out there who just canā€™t because of how ill they are. I had a discussion with my husband yesterday. He asked was my subscription to Dignitas still ā€˜liveā€™. He was able to raise it because he can see I am in a much better place. You know, since I found this forum I had completely forgotten all about my efforts to line up Dignitas. I was so surprised at myself. Believe me I have no issue at all with your point of view. I admire it and I hope in the not too distant future to be able to achieve what you have achieved.

If we have a headache we take propropanol or an equivalent and we don't need a prescription. If a person took quite a number of propropanol they'd feel unwell or have to go to the A&E.

It looks like you have made a typo (predictive text?) and you have put that we can take "Propranolol" for a headache and we don't need a prescription. I think you meant that to be "Paracetamol" as Propranolol is a prescription medication for palpitations, etc.

To avoid any confusion perhaps you should edit your post and correct that :)

Thanks SeasideSusie I have changed word above., It is a long time since I was prescribed daily Propranol and rarely have headaches and I take it once daily.

This is what I have read from the following link::-

"Propranolol for headaches

Propranolol belongs to a group of drugs called beta blockers. It is used in patients with heart problems to control high blood pressure or irregular heart beats. It is also used to treat certain types of vascular birthmarks. It is also used to prevent migraines and headaches.
