Anyone having problems with above batch, I bought these in November 2020, however I don't feel they are working for me. I am taking g Tironel for years now and always know they are working the signs are there however since switching to another pharmacy and receiving the above batch I am putting g up weight and dont feel as good. They come from Hong Kong. I really only changed because they were half the price of other company I bought with, the tablets are the exact same brand and thats whats confusing me. Tiromel 25mcg by ABDIBRAHM - everythig is the same box etc. Can the strength be different just because I changed where I bought them??? I really need to sort this out before my Thyroud gets out if control again. Any support is much appreciated

There have been 4 people mention problems with 20E479, one person has mentioned a problem with 20E478 and you are the first to mention 20E477.

As the batch numbers are consecutive it seems to add weight to there being a possible production problem. They haven't all come from the same supplier which would suggest that it isn't an unscrupulous supplier involved.

I would suggest, as I have to the other members, that you contact your supplier about the problem, the more feedback they get about an ineffective batch the better.

Please let me know if you get any response from your supplier.

Thank you SeasideSusie for your reply, I most certainly will let you know of any further developments

I am using T3 from this batch and they seem to work as usually ( allowing for sharp fluctuations in air temperature lately)

I have batch 20E477 and 20E478 both of which came directly from Turkey. I am taking 478 at the moment and they seem fine but have only recently rolled over to this stock (the last ten days or so) but I am very symptomatic so would have expected to have symptoms back by now if there was an issue. I have had fake medication before and it was pretty convincing - until somebody else notified everyone that there was fake medication going around and it made me scrutinise mine. The difference was subtle but easy to spot if scrutinised. The foil backing was different - there was no mention of 25mcg on the fake one (which should be immediately after the word Tiromel), and the indentation pattern in the foil was not as defined in the fake on as the original. What was also worth noting is that the fake medication was supplied in genuine boxes. The batch number on the box was different to the batch number on the strips so this was suspicious straight away. My fake medication came from a UK website (from whom I had genuine medication previously) but was dispatched from Bulgaria.

Hi Hackman, Just wondering where is the second batch no. It is visible on the box however I note you mentioned batch number on strip( is this the foil package) I do see something along the end, but so small unable to make it out. Thank you also for all your info

Yes exactly - at one end of the strip is the Best Before End (10 2021) and the other end is the batch number. This should match the batch number on the printed box that they came in.

I have 6 boxes all of which cover all three of these batch numbers. They came from a reputable, reliable contact who gets them from the pharmacy direct in Turkey. I haven't taken them yet but should I be worried? Seeing this post has put doubt in my mind even though I know they are kosha. I don't want to risk going more hypo as I am still not optimised on my medication yet.

If you have got them from your normal reliable supplier then I doubt very much whether they are passing on counterfeit tablets. At the moment the responses I have had (on the forum and by PM) seem to suggest there is no problem with any supplier but there could possibly be a production problem, which is why I've suggested that those members who have found a problem report it to their supplier. However, there also appears to be some members with these batches that haven't found a problem.

So I don't think anyone here can tell you if you should be worried or not. Just try them. When you change to one of these batches I would do a thyroid function test first - TSH, FT4 and FT3 - then start the new batch. See if you feel any different. Retest 6 weeks after starting the new batch and see if your results have changed significantly. You will find your answer there.

Make sure that you always do all your thyroid tests under the exact same conditions to compare results accurately, we always advise:

* Blood draw no later than 9am. This is because TSH is highest early morning and lowers throughout the day. If looking for a diagnosis of hypothyroidism, an increase in dose of Levo or to avoid a reduction then we need the highest possible TSH

* Nothing to eat or drink except water before the blood draw. This is because eating can lower TSH and coffee can affect TSH.

* If taking thyroid hormone replacement, last dose of Levo should be 24 hours before blood draw, if taking NDT or T3 then last dose should be 8-12 hours before blood draw. Adjust timing the day before if necessary. This avoids measuring hormone levels at their peak after ingestion of hormone replacement. Take your thyroid meds after the blood draw. Taking your dose too close to the blood draw will give false high results, leaving any longer gap will give false low results.

* If you take Biotin or a B Complex containing Biotin (B7), leave this off for 7 days before any blood test. This is because if Biotin is used in the testing procedure it can give false results (most labs use biotin).

These are patient to patient tips which we don't discuss with phlebotomists or doctors.

Hi Seaside Susie, thank you for your reply. No I don't suspect they are dodgy, I was going along the theme that other people said they didn't feel they were so effective, hence you said to report it to the supplier as it could be a production issue. I will mention it to the person I brought them from and see what she says. As I believe she had some from these batches too. 👍

Hi, I only recently introduced T3, Tiromel to my levo, just checked and they are the same batch numbers as the one you mentioned. Eventually gave up given I put on nearly a stone in weight in a very short period of time, and my resting heart rate decreased. Put it down to the fact that perhaps T3 wasn't for me. Didn't get as far as testing so can't confirm, given I wasn't prepared to feel worse than I had been on levo for any longer. Have just undertaken further bloods on levo and was potentially going to start again with introducing T3 again, but given your experience will not do so with my current supply.

I’m in a similar situation to you. I didn’t feel great on T3 but can’t be 100% sure it was the T3 as I am going through menopause, suffer with allergies etc. I’ve just had a blood test and my T3 was higher by taking 100g T4 in place of 75g T4 and 12mcg of T3. Saying that it was only 3.9 and that’s the highest it’s ever been! My T4 was 20 and tsh 0.7. I wish I was as knowledgeable as some of the folk on here. I’ve got some tiromel but not sure if I should reintroduce it. My results say i should 🤷‍♀️

Hi Tinacros, this is my first let down with Tiromel, I am taking 8years approx now and I was doing great on it, more energy, lost weight and was in a good place. I just changed supplier about 6mths ago but stayed with the same product, since that I dont feel good, I have started to feel very tired, weight increasing and more. Like you mentioned I'm over 55 and wonder if my hormones could be affecting my body also. I have emailed the supplier and also the Tiromel company just to make sure there not fake, thats the last thing we all need, it's hard enough trying to stay in good health. I will let you know how I get on. , . Good luck with yours and can I just say, don't be nervous of taking Tiromel I always found them brilliant

Just by way of an update, I have now been taking my new stock b/n ending 278 for five days and for the last four days, I have had my tell tale symptoms creeping in. I think that the meds are definitely less potent than usual so am experimenting to work out by how much so that I can up my dose accordingly for the rest of my stock. I have today increased my first dose by 25% (1/4 tablet) and will see how I go. Out of interest, all of the batch numbers mentioned by everyone relate to stock with a best before end October 21.
