I always get Eltroxin. The pharmacy said on Saturday that they don’t think Eltroxin is being made in 50 and 100 mcg anymore. The guy couldn’t find either on the system. He could only see the 25 mcg.
Is that correct?
If so, what are my alternatives? Is there anything very similar?
Thank you!

Thank you very much! That’s really helpful. I looked at the links as well. I’ll call the pharmacy. I do wonder if I shouldn’t try a change. I’m just not feeling good. But perhaps it’s more covid. I’ll wait and see.
I did run out and I was without for a week. I now have a lot because my friend got me some from Greece. He’s going back in a couple of months, so he will get me more. It’s so cheap there! Thank you for asking.
Eltroxin is identical to Mercury Pharma levothyroxine - except the packaging!
I am hoping soon to hear more, possibly Friday. And shall, of course, post and/or add to the linked post.
Some pharmacy systems might list Eltroxin under Advanz - while others might have it under Mercury Pharma. Do check they are looking at both.
Some pharmacies might be able to supply either or both even if the one you used couldn't.
It is difficult to suggest alternatives as we are all different - with different reactions. Eltroxin / Mercury Pharma levothyroxine contains acacia and lactose - two of the ingredients that some don't tolerate.
You can find out what is approved in the UK here:
helvella - Thyroid Hormone Medicines
I have created, and try to maintain, a document containing details of all thyroid hormone medicines in the UK and, in less detail, many others around the world.
We have had some oddities recently - having to log back in and that taking several goes.
And, when you reply, if the Reply button remains grey, try editing the text - add some spaces, or remove some. That sometimes makes the system realise there is something to be posted.
I didn’t realise Eltroxin had these ingredients. I just looked up acacia. I have an allergy to grass pollen. I’m definitely going to switch brands. Perhaps it’s a cause in part to my asthma.
I have been having issues with my voice. That’s always a sure sign things aren’t right. I have been losing hair too and am colder than I should be at this time of year.
Thank you so much for pointing that out.
This is what I found:
Synthroid tablets are made with two ingredients -- acacia and lactose that can trigger allergies in some people. Some people who have pollen allergies and hay fever -- especially to tree an d grass pollens -- may also have an allergy to acacia, which is found in Synthroid's formulations.
