Hello there 👋

I’ve posted my bloods this morning to Medichecks in a priority post box I’m just worried if my blood 🩸 sample will be ok as post box isn’t emptied til 5.30pm - I didn’t think that one through 😎

I don't know if it will be alright. I was going to do a test this week and decided against it due to the heat.

Even though you used a priority post box the Tracked 24 return envelope doesn't guarantee that it will arrive tomorrow so there could be a delay so may be hanging around in the heat. I always use Royal Mail's Special Delivery Guaranteed Next Day by 1pm, you have to pay extra but it does arrive next day (or you get your fee back if it's delayed). When you use that service the parcel is kept at the post office counter until collection time so would not be exposed to the heat an outside post box is.

Ok thank you 🙏 I assume Medichecks will let me know if the sample is no good xx

Hi Kisca,

I struggle doing the fingerprick tests as I'm not good with the lancets. So one time last year when I'd managed to complete a test, blood tubes filled and feeling quite pleased with myself I then sent them off. I didn't even consider the hot weather that day.

Only afterwards to read on the forum that it's best to avoid doing tests in the hot weather. So I did expect to have to do them again but luckily they were fine and they were able to be processed.

I think as you've sent them you'll just have to see what happens. You never know they may be ok.

I've been concerned about this issue also on terribly cold days in winter as well. Ive always taken my sample to the post office counter and explained that it's a blood sample and I don't want any damage to come to it and my local post office have been quite happy to keep it in their indoor mailroom until the end of the day. I didn't have to pay any extra although I can definitely see the benefit of sending it via special delivery
