Would it work to have a medichecks blood test first thing on a Wednesday morning?

sunshineisbetter profile image

I receive my test midday today and trying to work out timings of results if I take my test first thing tomorrow and post it straight after as there is the bank holiday Monday coming up after this weekend. Will that work ok?

I would wait and test Tuesday morning next week

Post back via tracked 24 hour postal service

Thank you. I can feel my thyroid working hard or something peaking this week as I my glands are up and my throat is a bit dry/lumpy. I just think it might be a good time to capture a snapshot. Is there a danger of them not receiving it on time to test accurately if sent on a Wednesday?

Well, you could risk it. Definitely pay for 24 hour tracked postal service

I could have it just before lunch today (my post arrives late!) but I’m guessing first thing tomorrow is better x

Yes, tomorrow is a better choice. I realise we get impatient and want the answer a.s.a.p.

Use Royal Mail's Special Delivery Guaranteed by 1pm Next Day, you purchase this at the Post Office counter and they give you a receipt with tracking number so you will be able to check when it arrives on RM's tracking page. You will, of course, need to ensure that you do this before collection of last post of the day so make sure you know what time that is. Cost will be around £7ish and they should deduct the cost of the pre-paid postage on the return envelope.

There is a very slight chance it may not arrive the next day but should arrive the one after. If this happens you can claim a refund of the cost of the Special Delivery fee you paid.

Although I have just noticed on the packaging that it states to post at priority postbox only not at the post office?

The local post office I use is also the same place as the priority postbox so will it still be ok to use Royal Mail's Special Delivery Guaranteed by 1pm Next Day?

Thank you

I have never used their phlebotomy service, always used fingerprick kits.

My local Post Office also has a Priority Postbox outside. I have sent samples back using the Priority Postbox and it didn't arrive the next day, which is why I went back to paying for Special Delivery. If you are going to post on Wednesday then I would only use Special Delivery otherwise wait until next Tuesday.

It has arrived at destination already on my tracking so watch this space in the next few days for results! X
