Hi I got my blood test on Monday at 1pm. I recieved a message today at 11.50am to say the lab had just received it. Does anyone know if this will affect the results? As most blood tests are sent the day.

Medichecks blood test. The accuracy of late sample to the lab?
Did you post it yourself?
They say to send so that it arrives the next day.
Did you use Royal Mail's Special Delivery Guaranteed Next Day by 1PM?
If so, as long as you still have the receipt with the tracking number you can reclaim your fee (probably £6.50 you paid).
If you didn't post it yourself, I think you should enquire from whomever why it's taken so long for your blood sample to arrive.
I think you will have to ask Medichecks if the blood is still usable. It's likely that it is, but if it was me I'd want to make sure.
By the way, if you are looking for a diagnosis then you need the highest possible TSH, that is very early morning and blood should have been taken no later than 9am after fasting overnight (breakfast/coffee after blood draw), water is allowed.
Hi the lady that took the sample posted it for me and said that it would arribe the next day. I phoned medichecks to query this as it states on their website that sample must arrive by the next day. They said they don't know why that's on the site as it's inaccurate and it wouldn't be a problem. I don't know why it's taken till this afternoon to arrive. One of the tests is the ANA which needs to be accurate. Now I am concerned of how accurate this test will be.

That's ridiculous. It's their website, they are in charge of it's content, they should sort it out if it's inaccurate. But Blue Horizon have the same information on their website, so I imagine that getting the blood there as quickly as possible is important.

Normal first class post doesn't guarantee next day delivery. Only Special Delivery does that, and even then it can fail, it's failed for me quite a few times, taken 48 hours, so I claim the cost of the service back. The blood test has always been successful though so the extra time didn't mean the blood spoiled. I suppose it may do in extremely hot weather.
When I had the home phlebotomy service from BH, the phlebotomist offered to post the sample. I knew she wouldn't walk from my house to the post office here and I would be at the mercy of the time of pick up wherever she posted it at the end of her working day, so I chose to take it to the post office myself.

I don't know if there are special requirements regarding time of testing after blood collection for this test. You could ask Medichecks but if the blood is spoiled and the test can't be done then they will contact you.
Thanks for the reply. You're right though. If it's not accurate information then it shouldn't be on the site. I just hope the samples are ok to be tested as it's a lot of money to spend.
My last bloods to Medichecks arrived in the same timescale as yours, and the results looked perfectly fine, and nothing adverse was reported by the lab.
Hi thanks for the reply. I was just a bit worried incase it affected the results as it does state that samples to arrive the following day. Thanks for the reassurance.
