Help with results please

Could someone help me with these results. I am currently taking 2 grains of thiroid NDT from Thailand. I don’t know how to reduce my T3 and keep my T4 in range. Is it possible to reduce the thiroid in order to reduce the T3 and then take some Levo to increase T4 ? If so any ideas of quantities involved? 🤷‍♀️

I don’t know how to reduce my T3 and keep my T4 in range

This is the problem for some people taking NDT, the ratio of T4:T3 at approximately 4:1 isn't right for them. I use Levo plus T3 and find that a ratio of 6:1 gives me the balance of T4 and T3 that I personally need to give me FT4 and FT3 levels where I feel best.

Is it possible to reduce the thiroid in order to reduce the T3 and then take some Levo to increase T4 ? If so any ideas of quantities involved? 🤷‍♀️

You could try, but it's all an experiment and tweaking of doses may be necessary. Maybe start by reducing NDT by 1/4 of a grain and perhaps add in 12.5mcg Levo, or possibly 25mcg. I'm not medically trained so that's not advice, just my opinion.

Thanks for your help. I think I may go back to Levo and T3 as it more versatile and maybe suits me better. I feel ok on the thiroid but that T3 level is high 🤔 it’s such hard work all this balancing‼️ Back to the drawing board 😂

Apart from having your FT3 over the top range, how do you feel. Are you losing weight?

Mine was high like yours when taking 3 grains per day I was also losing too much weight.

I am on Thyroid s and have been taking 2 grains for 8 weeks but have just put it up to my usual 2.5 grains again, it's a hard one. The ratio in a pigs thyroid is different to a human and I do not believe that anyone at all feels the same without their thyroid as a person with a perfectly working one. I try for 80/85% and mostly it works.

I feel fine, certainly not losing any weight ‼️ It’s all a bit of a game isn’t it ‼️

Tests are read differently when taking any form of T3. If on the correct dose for you TSH would be suppressed, FT4 can fall lower in its range but T3 should be high in its range but never over. Quickest way to get FT3 to drop is not to take it for a. Outlet of days but no idea on what dose to start back on. I've had an Endo give me a level but don't know how he worked it out. I wason 3 grains and felt good but not quite as good as I should have but raising wasn't improving things. Was told to stop for ? Days, thing 2 but itcwassome time ago not then start back on 1.75 which seemed a big stop bitvit was spot on! Will see if it's in my notes as I take my temp daily, record my do and anything else I find relevant. Ifi find something will add it to this message.

Hello Skelly

Do you feel over medicated ?

My results were similar to yours, I left 10 hours for the blood draw. I was totally surprised as I felt good, and definitely not over medicated at all.

My thinking was similar to yours as I thought I must act on my blood tests results.

However the blood tests results are for people on synthetic hormone replacement and were bought into the mainstream along with Levothyroxine, guidelines, the TSH and all that we have had to put up with, and ended up here, as it didn't work for us.

NDT was the treatment option for over 100 years, people dosed to the relief of symptoms, they were left to take smidgeons of NDT, until they felt better, and that was their dose.

There were no blood tests.

On NDT dosing once early earning, you will have a higher than " normal " T3 for most of the day. So, if you need a blood test for the doctor, leave 24 hours as you would if on Levothyroxine, and your T3 will be mid range and your T4 low in range.

This is now, how I understand NDT works, it makes sense to me - hope this helps you..

I feel ok on my current dose, but that high T3 is making me nervous 🙈

So, if you hadn't had a blood test, you would have been none the wiser and stayed on the NDT dose, and feeling ok ?

I know I felt nervous, but it subsided when I thought it all through, and realised I was mixing up two totally different products and procedures and got the timing wrong for the blood draw.

It's just a number - please don't fixate on it if you feel ok.

I'm now wondering how high would my T3 have to be to start feeling " not so OK " ? And presume it's that smidgeon that I took, that made me feel jumpy, so 1/4 more NDT than I'm currently on.

How long did you leave between dose and blood draw ?

Yeah you’re probably right 🤷‍♀️ I left 12 hours before the blood test.

Well yes, guidelines are simply that guide lines, an opinion, and if you need a NHS prescription for synthetic hormone replacements, and need to see a doctor, they will be following these NHS guidelines, so we try and comply, even trying to adjust our timings of the meds to fall into ranges deemed acceptable by the NHS.

Well, If these guidelines worked for us we wouldn't be dosing with NDT, would we.

Trust yourself, Skelly, you know " you " better than a number on a piece of paper.
