DHEA supplementation with thyroid meds

My DHEA is apparently sub optimal:

DHEA - 0.31 (0.25-2.22)

DHEA: cortisol ratio - 0.05 (0.05 - 0.32)

The specialist I see recommends I take 15mg DHEA daily.

I’m wondering if there are any conflicts with thyroid medication as she’s asked me to take the DHEA first thing.

We don't take anything within at least 2 hours of thyroid meds. If you need to take your DHEA first thing and that's when you normally take your thyroid meds, then just alter the time of your thyroid meds to be taken on one hour before or two hours after food, 2 hours away from any other medication or supplements, but leave 4 hours if you take iron, calcium, magnesium, vit D, HRT, Omeprazole (or any other PPI).

Thank you SeasideSusie, I guess my other option is to take my DHEA 2 hours after my thyroid meds, so that would be around 8am. Still quite early in the morning which I think is the point with DHEA but will see which option works best. Thank you.

You can take levothyroxine at bedtime

Many people find it more convenient, may be more effective too

If you normally take levothyroxine at bedtime/in night ...adjust timings as follows prior to blood test

If testing Monday morning, delay Saturday evening dose levothyroxine until Sunday morning. Delay Sunday evening dose levothyroxine until after blood test on Monday morning. Take Monday evening dose levothyroxine as per normal

Taking Levo at night is an option but I’m currently taking 15mcg T3 in the morning. I presume I should also space DHEA at least 2 hours apart from T3?

I would personally avoid the supplement DHEA. Read what the MAYO clinic has written about it please.
