I've come across this interesting article about the Circadian rhythm and when to take T3. I'll be looking at changing when I take mine once my Endo has given the all clear for me to remain on T3/T4 combo.
This is one off my favourite articles, sympathetic to many ways of dosing.
Medicating thyroid hormone replacement has to interfere on some level with natural circadian patterns, and this article brings home the importance of spacing T3 but that the TSH circadian pattern can naturally time-shift and we don’t have to wake ourselves by alarm at 4am to take our meds.
It also mentions about NDT’s T3 being more slow release as bound to thyroglobulin rather than sodium in the tablet, and for those of us who have suffered adrenal issues & T3 sensitivity this more gentle approach may be imperative for successfully medicating. I have found I can split NDT daily dose into two, whereas synthetic I need to split three times daily.
