Has anyone had experience of shingles vaccination and if so, any downsides?
I have let my fingertips do a bit of research and found that Zostavax has been withdrawn in USA but they are giving Shingrix. It appears that Z is a live vaccine and Shingrix is inactive and more suitable for immunosuppressed patients (which I am)
i had a look on NHS website and Shingrix is available on NHS. I've put a telephone request in with my surgery and am waiting to hear back from the nurse who is giving these vaccinations.
Any info would be greatly appreciated

Both my husband and myself have had our NHS shingles jab. I can’t remember when but it must be over 2 years ago. Neither of us had any kind of reaction to it.
It appears they use Shingrix for some groups but, possibly, the old vaccine for others. Things might vary across the four nations of the UK.
I have no information about the vaccine that you won't have seen by a bit of searching. I just encourage anyone who has the chance to get the vaccine rather than shingles.
When I enquired with the nurse at my GP practice she told me that they would give Shingrix to immunosuppressed people.
I also enquired at a travel pharmacy which does vaccinations and they are charging £440 in total for Shingrix for the 2 vaccinations that are needed. Zostavax only needs one vaccination and costs the NHS about £100.
There is lots of information about Shingrix on the European Medicines site - I have only glanced. It might serve to illuminate. It does mention use in patients who have had autologous stem cell transplants and blood cancer even in the little I have read, so I expect other issues will be covered.
