Iron supplement

Please could someone recommend a supplement of ferritin and folate.

Ferritin is a measure of iron stores and is increased with iron supplements - see this thread :

Folate is a B vitamin, it isn't related to iron at all :

I have no clue what options you have available to you in Saudi Arabia, or how you will source iron supplements.

The same comment applies to Folate - I have no idea what options are available to you. In the UK you can buy folate supplements on Amazon and from other online supplement sources.

Note that iron supplements can be dangerous because it is poisonous in overdose, and it could easily make you very ill.

I don't know anything about excess folate and any dangers that might arise from it. I always try to keep mine within a range of about 10 - 20 ug/L.

It would be a good idea to post your latest iron / ferritin / folate / vitamin B12 results for us to see, just to get some feedback on what you might want to aim at.

Thank you. I live in Spain now and have taken ferritin supplements for years as my level drops rapidly otherwise. I used to take a supplement I got on prescription from my Endo in Saudi but have none left. I have Hashimotos.

I hope you find something that you can both tolerate and find for sale in Spain in that first link I gave. You obviously know what you're doing if you've been supplementing with a maintenance dose for years. I would definitely suggest that you get an annual or twice-yearly full iron panel if you can, just to be sure that nothing goes wrong with your numbers. Good luck.
