Diagnosed with Subacute Thyroiditis

I was recently diagnosed with subacute thyroiditis (elevated CRP/ESR and negative antibodies). Swollen thyroid, severe pain when talking and swallowing. Pain radiates through neck up to ears. Steroids helped when on 30 mg, but when titrating down to 20 mg symptoms starting coming back and at 10 mg of prednisone daily the symptoms are very bad. What experiences do others have with extended use of steroids to alleviate pain/swelling?

Welcome to the club. I was diagnosed with subacute Thyroiditis on 2017, negative antibodies also, and could never fully recover. I became subclinical hypo since, and started levothyroxine 1 year ago.I didnt take steroids at the time, they told me steroids would not have any impact on the outcome, but I now wonder what would have happened if I had taken them.

My pain lasted for a month and a half. Then ceased, but I became hypothyroid. :-(
