Help interpreting medichecks results please?

Looking some advice from the knowledgeable people of this forum please.

My aunt, in her seventies, has recently received back her results from a thyroid monitoring test with medichecks, as she is experiencing major fatigue, general body aches and brain fog. Her doctor has previously supplemented her with Folic acid but never addressed B12 which is cause for concern. (My grandmother had pernicious anaemia, ...for additional info.)

I want to give her the best advice as to the next steps to take with her doctor in order to push for adequate treatment of deficiencies/low levels seen here or failing that what supplements can be sourced independently. I have some ideas eg. Sublingual B12, vitamin D3 with vitamin K spray etc.

I myself have Hashimotos thyroiditis but it appears she does not by her TFT results and antibodies?

Can anyone offer some insight?

Many thanks in advance 🙏

Take these results to GP

Don’t start any B12 supplements

She needs full testing for Pernicious Anaemia

Almost certainly needs B12 injections

Presumably she has Low B12 symptoms

Vitamin D is borderline deficient

GP should almost certainly prescribe LOADING dose vitamin D

That’s 300,000iu in total vitamin D over 6-8 weeks as detailed here

NHS Guidelines on dose vitamin D required

ouh.nhs.uk/osteoporosis/use...

GP will often only prescribe to bring vitamin D levels to 50nmol. Some CCG areas will prescribe to bring levels to 75nmol or even 80nmol

leedsformulary.nhs.uk/docs/...

GP should advise on self supplementing if over 50nmol, but under 75nmol (but they rarely do)

mm.wirral.nhs.uk/document_u...

But improving to around 80nmol or 100nmol by self supplementing may be better

Once she Improve level, very likely she will need on going maintenance dose to keep it there.

Test twice yearly via NHS private testing service when supplementing

Vitamin D mouth spray by Better You is very effective as it avoids poor gut function. There’s a version made that also contains vitamin K2 Mk7. One spray = 1000iu

It’s trial and error what dose we need

Government recommends everyone supplement October to April

I’d recommend this book so you can keep an eye on her getting the right treatment. Could It Be B12?: An Epidemic of Misdiagnoses Paperback – Illustrated, 26 Jan. 2011

by Sally M. Pacholok RN (Author), Jeffrey J. Stuart DO (Author)
