Medichecks results, still over range

I've reduced my Metavive to half the dose I was taking but my T3 is still over range and results accompanied by more dire warnings of osteoporosis - which I've already been diagnosed with.

TSH X <0.005 mU/L (Range: 0.27 - 4.2)

Free T3 X 8.27 pmol/L (Range: 3.1 - 6.8)

Free Thyroxine 20.700 pmol/L (Range: 12 - 22)

Any thoughts as to whether I should try to reduce any more greatly appreciated. I feel well on current dose and have to go through migraines and back on beta blockers every time I reduce.

Because the OP's FT3 is quite a bit over range and her FT4 is quite high in range as well. Not everyone gets on well with thyroid glandulars although it seems the OP does, and with thyroid glandulars one would expect to see results following a similar pattern to NDT.

Without seeing your results with their reference ranges and your current nutrient levels, and knowing what dose of Metavive you take it's not really possible to comment. Maybe start a new post all of your own, we don't want to take the OP's thread off track.

When did you last test vitamin D, folate, ferritin and B12

We need optimal vitamin levels for thyroid hormones to work well

These numbers sure suggest you are taking too much T3 and / or T4. Does your med include T3 with the T4?? If you you might want to take only T4 med. Or change brands if you are taking T4 only and see if that helps.

Hello Dina :

I think you answered your own question :

Why would you when, now, feeling well, follow the same suggestion as last time ?

Why lower your dose which last time caused you migraines and needing beta blockers ?

I think the issue with this supplement, despite the fact it is working well for most people, is that the exact content is not a measured dose of T3 or T4 and so you simply need to go with your symptoms which is how Natural Desiccated Thyroid works.

The guidelines, ranges and rules were written to be used with Big Pharma's launch of T3 and T4 thyroid hormones in the middle of the last century and do not apply to NDT or any other glandular support supplements.

However if you need to keep your doctor " on side " maybe skip a dose or two when coming up to a thyroid review and a NHS blood draw will likely be only a TSH which is a waste of time anyway once on any form of thyroid hormone replacement.
