I've been wondering about the relationship between thyroid hormones and general hormones, although specifically female sex hormones.
Since the age of 15 I've been 65kg. Aside from my pregnancies, it was part of the reason it took me so long to get my hypothyroid diagnosis!
Anyway, I've noticed I've started to gain weight, which isn't a bother because I've always been underweight, I noticed this morning that my body is changing shape. It's subtle but my hips are wider and my boobs are getting bigger! (No chance of pregnancy; last time we had protected sex was 6 month ago... My libido still hasn't returned. 🙄)
But is this a thing? Is it possible that my boobs are growing as I'm reaching being optimally medicated?
I feel like it's all connected but I don't know how. Or maybe it's not and I'm losing my mind!
I had a hysterectomy several years ago and have been on estrogen since then. I know that when women have a change in their estrogen dosage, they often times need to also increase their thyroid dosage as well. I did not know that until recently.
I also have read that women who are hypo and become pregnant, need their thyroid monitored closely. I don't know if doctors do that, but it is important for the levels to be in a good place.
I have also heard of women who were not able to get pregnant are able to after correcting the low thyroid level.
I don't know your age, but if you are close to perimenopause, your body may be starting to shift. Maybe the thyroid hormone is helping your estrogen work better and therefore more curves. 😉
I do know there is a correlation and hormones need to be in harmony with each other for us to feel our best. So, I would definitely think that a change in one hormone could create a change in another hormone.
