Water Fluoridation Bill

A member of the UK's House of Lords has genuine concern for the science and the safety of their constituents in regard to the adding of fluoride to our water supplies. Lord Reay delivered a speech to Parliament about the fact that the water fluoridation bill was not debated or scrutinised and was very rushed. He explained that he had discovered that fluoride affects the developing brain and reduces IQ.

Let’s hope that this leads to a proper debate about this topic.

Their decision to add flouride to our drinking water is not theirs to make. We have no idea of what the results could be in the long-term especially for bottle-fed babies or people who do drink water often.

Whoever makes these decisions I would suspect are already taking flouride in some way or another as their brains seem not to be functioning. This is an extract from the following link:-

who.int/teams/environment-c...

excerpt from above link and it may be that someone is being paid to sell flouride."

Water-related diseases --- Fluorosis

The disease and how it affects people

Ingestion of excess fluoride, most commonly in drinking-water, can cause fluorosis which affects the teeth and bones. Moderate amounts lead to dental effects, but long-term ingestion of large amounts can lead to potentially severe skeletal problems. Paradoxically, low levels of fluoride intake help to prevent dental caries. The control of drinking-water quality is therefore critical in preventing fluorosis. The condition and its effect on people Fluorosis is caused by excessive intake of fluoride. The dental effects of fluorosis develop much earlier than the skeletal effects in people exposed to large amounts of fluoride. Clinical dental fluorosis is characterized by staining and pitting of the teeth. In more severe cases all the enamel may be damaged. However, fluoride may not be the only cause of dental enamel defects. Enamel opacities similar to dental fluorosis are associated with other conditions, such as malnutrition with deficiency of vitamins D and A or a low protein-energy diet. Ingestion of fluoride after six years of age will not cause dental fluorosis.

Chronic high-level exposure to fluoride can lead to skeletal fluorosis. In skeletal fluorosis, fluoride accumulates in the bone progressively over many years. The early symptoms of skeletal fluorosis, include stiffness and pain in the joints. In severe cases, the bone structure may change and ligaments may calcify, with resulting impairment of muscles and pain.

Acute high-level exposure to fluoride causes immediate effects of abdominal pain, excessive saliva, nausea and vomiting. Seizures and muscle spasms may also occur.

It seems to be like a slow poisoning for us all and I suppose whoever is making the 'flouride' wants to increase their profits..

Could you clarify whether the bill is intended to apply across the four nations or to England only?

The policy page seems to mention only England:

gov.uk/government/publicati...

And, if England-only, how will it apply to those who get their water from the adjacent nation (whichever way round).

I think it's only England but the other countries seem to be keen too.

The very thought makes me feel sick. Both my children developed this brown discolouration and thickening on their teeth due to excess flouride (according to their dentist,) but where from I had no clue. We drink a lot of bottled water, but in terms of cooking and boiling I use tap water and occasionally in the night, if I wake up thirsty, I get a glass from the tap. Being ill I can't always get bottled water in on time.

Dealing with thyroid illness is quite a financial burden already, with private meds, private consultations, private testing, an entire forts Knox's worth of vitamins, without also having to buy water filters or add expensive filtration systems and gadgets to the taps or pipes! I jave no desire to bathe in it either!

Why can't these people stop trying to fiddle with everything?

Because there's money in it for them! Why else? Do you think they're really concerned about the nation's teeth? Of course they aren't! lol

You're right of course, and it's all rather bleak.

We drink filtered water only. I read once that the fluoride, bromide and chloride in water has negative effects on thyroid function, as well as other inflammatory conditions/auto immune.

Seems somewhat odd to point at chloride in water as an issue when it is absolutely essential to life.

Indeed, many times posters here suggest members do things like drink saline or use more salt on the food.

Did you, possibly, mean the various other chlorine compounds/substances such as hypochlorite?

I lived in Essex in the 80s and took a Dentist’s young child to school. I asked what those marks on her teeth were. She replied her dad had given her too much fluoride!! In those days I was not aware of dangers of fluoride but I thought it was strange when it was reputed to be so good for teeth. I drink bottled to be rid of it and use fluoride toothpaste.

US here. I've been drinking fluoridated water my whole entire life without any ill effects. I'll be 70 next year.

I don't quite understand how you can be so sure that fluoride played no part in any of your health issues?

Equally, nor do I have any proof whatsoever that it did play a part.

The concern over fluoride reminds me of the idiotic hype around Covid vaccines. We have people who believe that Bill Gates has inserted trackers in the vaccine, 1000s have died from getting the jab, they make you sterile and all kinds of other nonsense.

There is a major issue with anything that is added to our water supplies. It becomes almost unavoidable. If there is an issue, it could affect every single one of us.

It needs evidence of the highest order of quality.

There are numerous concerns over fluoride in water supplies. They might all be satisfactorily addressed in future, but quite a number are outstanding.

In relation to thyroid alone, I offer this quick search:

We've been adding fluoride to our water since 1940. There is plenty of data to look at. When my son was a baby, we drank well water. I requested fluoride drops from his pediatrician. I later found out that we had too much fluoride in our water. He developed white spots in his teeth which aren't very noticeable. He's never had a cavity. He spent his academic career in advanced placement classes. He's had no ill effects; neither have I.

kvmj,

'I've been drinking fluoridated water my whole entire life without any ill effects. I'll be 70 next year.'

But according to your previous posts you have a thyroid problem and have been very ill.

If you feel strongly enough about this issue, may I suggest you write (email or paper) to your representatives. MP in England, MLA in Northern Ireland, MSP in Scotland, MS in Wales, or anyone else you think relevant.

It is almost always better to write your own letter, from scratch, than to copy and paste a template letter, even if you do change it a bit.

Express your concerns, in your words. I suspect the elected representatives are weary as anything about receiving multiple near-identical, submissions. Anything which grabs their attention is better.

You do not have to be a scientist, a doctor, a dentist to be concerned.

I focussed my letter on the issues of fluoride and thyroid - not surprisingly. Likely it is better to choose an area that is of especial concern to you.

If you add any references, try to use good quality sources. Some sites, however well-intentioned, however honest and accurate the information, just don't carry any real weight.
