No. Levothyroxine is not designed to be taken that way. It is to do with how the tablets dissolve and how the molecules are absorbed. Levo needs to be taken on an empty stomach and swallowed with water so that it reaches the stomach.

Lalatoot has given the proper response and also explained how and why the tablets should be taken.

I've always taken mine with one full glass of water so that the tablet wont get stuck in throat and it goes directly into stomach

When I read Paul Robinson’s book recently he suggested chewing liothyronine and that’s what I’ve been doing since. What is your opinion? 😬 Hard to know what to do for the best.

I follow the advice of Dr John Lowe, who has now died due to an accident.

He was a scientist/researcher/doctor and expert on the use of T3 and he himself took it too. He was also an Adviser to Thyroiduk.org.uk.

He took his dose in the middle of the night when he awoke to go to the toilet and swallowed T3 with one full glass of water. Nothing would interfere with T3s uptake.

He stated that T3 (liothyronine) has to saturate all of our T3 receptor cells and it sent out 'waves' throughout the day and the effect can last up to three days.

He would never prescribe levothyroxine - only NDTs (natural dessicated thyroid hormones) that contain all of the hormones a healthy gland would do. Or T3 for those patients who were 'resistant' to thyroid hormones.

Unfortunately for many patients these thyroid hormone replacements were removed from the NHS (contain all of the hormones a healthy gland would do and saved the lives of thousands from 1892 onwards). No blood test in 1892.

Big Pharma introduced blood test as that would give them more profits.

This is an excerpt from a scientist/doctor and researchers:-

"4. How and when to take levothyroxine

Take levothyroxine once a day in the morning, ideally at least 30 minutes before having breakfast or a drink containing caffeine, like tea or coffee.

Food and caffeinated drinks can both stop your body taking in levothyroxine properly so it does not work as well.

If you stop taking levothyroxine your symptoms are likely to come back.
