Hi all, I’ve been prescribed 50 mg DHEA by my doc, as my DHEAs and testosterone were very low.
He also told me to take it in the evening. I am puzzled. Dr. Google says to take it in the morning. Does anyone know when it should be taken? Would it lower my cortisol? I am on HC also. Thanks.

Taking DHEA won't lower cortisol but balance both levels which is when they work most effectively.
Although DHEA’s fluctuations aren’t as wide as cortisols, it still follows the same circadian behaviours so should be highest in the morning, but perhaps your guidance to take it in the evening is to replace the most deficient levels seen over the 24 hour period.
Why don't you confirm with your doctor? It is a good question.
Thank you Radd for the explanation. My doctor is not at office for two weeks and there is no replacement.
I'm also on DHEA prescribed by my Endocrinologist, I'm also steroid dependent so on Hydrocortisone as well. As we don't make cortisol it's not going to be used will to balance out our cortisol, however it is used for well being & fatigue. 50mgs is quite a big dose, most people find that they are better on 25mgs as higher doses can cause greasy hair, acne * facial flushing. There is also a higher risk of blood clots & cardiac issues with taking it. I've reduced my dose down to 25mgs every few days as I've had previous DVT's & PE. I take mine in the morning rather than at night, not sure why your doctor has said take it at night?
Hi Pauline, thank you for reply. My doc prescribed two capsules 25 mg each so I can reduce the dose if I feel that 50 mg is too much. I have no idea why my doc said to take it in the evening.
I am prescribed DHEA and take it both morning and evening (12.5 each time) with my estrogen and progesterone but not with thyroid meds. I can't take testostereone directly so I have DHEA instead. It helps to raise my cortisol which is usually low
