Anyone completely heat intolerant?

I’m finding this weather unbelievably difficult to handle. I’m central hypothyorid but medicated…( never feel well but never mind )

For the last couple of months I have been suffering one hot flush after another or just hot all the time and perspiring constantly. It’s horrid. Can’t figure out if this is thyroid related and the hot weather has now sent me to the hyper side of things or whether it’s HRT related. Just don’t want to alter meds in case of getting it wrong.

i can recall becoming completely heat intolerant before i was diagnosed years ago.

Anyone else suffering like this ?

When I first went to doc two years ago with what I now know were hypothyroid symptoms, she asked if I felt cold easily. I said, No, the opposite. If someone struck a match in the next room, I would feel it! That hasn’t changed and the weather has been a real challenge. Or exercise - I had to give up Zumba as I looked like a character from The Marvels. I carry a fan about with me, which helps a little. And the usual cooling down techniques.

All these years I thought I was still having menopausal flushes and sweats which were never checked.

I have central Hypothyroidism as well and am perimenopausal. I could never cope with the heat, even as a child/teenager/younger adult. Now in perimenopause I got really bad night sweats (Soaked sheets several times a day). HRT didn't work for me so out of desperation I tried a herbal supplement, which worked for me.

Hot flushes are definitely a thing that happens during menopause, but that doesn’t mean you can’t get them as part of being hypothyroid.

How old are you? could it be menopause? Have you tried any herbal remedies, supplements or even HRT? I would start with one of those before altering your Thyroid meds.

Good luck!

I had a full hysterectomy and oopherectomy 15 years ago and have been on HRT ever since. It may be that I need a higher dose…

I often mention on here that there are so many crossover symptoms with hypothyroid and menopause. I might raising my HRT and seeing how that goes?

I’m the same as you and this past week has been horrible. At night my feet in particular feel very hot which sets the rest of me off. I tend to have a fan on for most of the time at night anyway but it doesn’t cut it when it’s really hot.

I just had some tests come back and my oestrogen was only 92 so I will be asking for an increase.
