Hi morgan2014, marine looks as though it could mitigate beauty related issues such as dryness, hair, nails etc, other types look as though they help with joints and connective tissue issues…. I’m considering starting collagen supps and haven’t yet found anything to warn me off…hopefully any community members who have supplemented can share their experience …

Hi EebieJeebies, I’ve been thinking about starting collagen supplements for some time, but have yet to take the plunge. Will do my homework before commencing, definitely interested in the joint and connective tissues supplement. Thank you for your reply. Morgan

Hi Morgan2014. I've been looking for a suitable collagen supplement too. I'm only interested in Type 1, so marine for me and preferably non-GMO, wild, cold-water caught, etc.

I found a well-reviewed one called from a company called Hay but unfortunately, it contains iodine. The review which seemed biased but I would have tried the product if it hadn't had iodine.

I liked the YourZooki liposomal marine collagen with vitamin C from H&B. It's convenient but would be pricy for long-term use. So I'm currently using a powder form of another brand, can't remember the name at the moment, from H&B (10mg in a 5ml scoop) but the taste is a bit more evident with this one. It's better value though.

Like thyroid health, I know I have to wait for at least a couple of months to really see the benefit of the collagen. I'm looking forward to it though! I'll be interested to follow what you find and how it goes for you.

Hi StPetes, thank you for your recommendations, you’ve certainly given me some food for thought. It’s a bit of a minefield out there for choice, hence my plea on this site. Downside for me with marine collagen will be taste, but no doubt the benefits will outweigh that. I’ll post on here my collagen journey.

Hi morgan2014. Yes, I wouldn't be a fan of a strong taste or smell like that. The one I have now is the powder version of marine collagen 5,000mg with small supplements of Biotin 50ug, Vitamin C 24mg and Selenium 16.5ug. Its actually just under 5,000 in a 5g scoop not a 5ml scoop as I said yesterday, apologies, late night reading 🤭.I dissolve it in a small amount of warm water and follow it quickly with a pure juice to distract from the slight taste and smell. Without iodine, I'm thinking it can only help 🤞
