Obtaining liothyronine from Germany post brexit

I have been taking combination T3 and t4 for many years and for me it works buying T3 from Germany however this time I cannot obtain it because my English prescription is not valid post brexit.

I can however with a prescription from an eu practitioner.

Can any one help me with this one as soon I will run out of current stocks.

I cannot be the only person who finds themselves in this position.

But don't leave it to the last moment to send the prescription by post as my laste one took 7 days to get to London first class and signed for! And then it takes time to get the meds to you as well.

Lancashireboy, As I understand it, you have a private prescription for liothyronine. This is no longer valid outside of the UK. You cannot get an EU prescription.

Use your private prescription to get liothyronine from any UK pharmacy that takes private scripts and will give you a good price. But if you specifically want the German liothyronine (at current price of 50p per tab), you can get it from the two mentioned i.e. Roseway or Chemist4u.

How do you go about getting a prescription for this? Is it only via a private Dr?

I know I asked my GP way back, and she said they don't do private prescriptions.

You can google ‘<redacted search string>’ if you need to get it without a prescription.

Advising a search doesn't help the poster to receive details about sites which have been used by members and shown themselves to be at least reasonably trustworthy.

I see that people can say you can by T3 at Roseway pharmacy but can I say you can buy it at name.com? It’s not just the rules of the site - I really don’t want to say anything that would make me a drug dealer!

Let me explain in a bit more detail:

Roseway Labs is an entirely legitimate UK pharmacy which requires a private prescription. Further, we have many reports from members that they have used Roseway Labs (and some other places mentioned from time to time) entirely satisfactorily.

Some of the sites you find by a search are deeply entrenched in things like steroids and growth hormones alongside T3. Some of the products offered are not from known, recognised pharmaceutical companies. And I suspect we have seen more issues about fake medicines from such places than other suppliers.

Also, many of these sites use the subterfuge of having a .uk address (or one like .uk.com which implies a UK connection but means nothing of the sort) when they actually operate from overseas. You usually cannot find the ordinary things you'd expect of any genuine UK site - like company registration number and address, VAT number, etc.

This forum has always banned links to non-prescription sources of products which are prescription-only in the UK.

Obviously, anyone can type anything they like into a search engine. But actually suggesting a specific search term which brings up some of these sites is a step too far. Even when the site is known and legitimate online retailer, links to prescription-only products, or saying that they do offer certain products, would not be allowed. (This can happen if the product if not prescription-only in some countries.)

Thanks I understand. Now I’m worried the ones I’m getting are fake! But I think they’re ok. The packaging etc all looks legit. Thanks for the explanation.

This is the problem. If everything looks OK, we still cannot be sure it is OK.

Of course, if there are issues, maybe packaging has mistakes on it, the tablets are not marked correctly, etc., we can be sure it is not OK.

The site you went to might be absolutely fine! I certainly hope so.

You can buy German Thybon Henning LiothyronineT3 20mic tabs from Rosewell Pharmacy here in Uk...usually about £1.00 a tab...but one tab can be split to your correct dosage..good luck ..
