Hi, this is in response to my query as to whether Armour Thyroid can still be prescribed.
'Thank you for your email dated 31 August 2021.
The MHRA has not recently objected to the importation of Armour Thyroid products.
For further advice on the importation of unlicensed medicines, please see the guidance in the link here.'
The link was to the reasons for which unlicensed medicines might be needed to be imported, and most importantly, the guidance also makes clear that if there are concerns regarding the medicine's safety a license would be refused. Clearly, the MHRA do not consider the contents of Armour to be unreliable as doctors keep telling us. Sorry I couldn't put the link.

Did that reply actually answer your question? If you asked about whether Armour could still be prescribed, they seem to only have told you that there is no objection to it being imported, which isn't the same thing.
I definitely could have framed the question better as they could only answer from their perspective of allowing imports. But, the answer, I feel, was very helpful, and was what I wanted to see.
We know that doctors can prescribe unlicensed meds as confirmed by the GMC etc if there is no licensed medicine suitable.Given all the rubbish drs tell us about quality, variable dose of ingredients in Armour, they can be corrected now.
The GP, quoting an endo, used the excuse of variable contents of thyroid hormones in Armour as the reason for no longer prescribing it to me and others. He actually said that it is not about cost, and if it were, it would be different. I will be forwarding the letter to my surgery sharing the good news that there is no reason now why Armour cannot be prescribed.
