I hope I am allowed to post this latest news from MHRA? I think rhere were posts back along about Graves/Hashimotos and Covid 19 vsccine. I was quite surprised to see thyroid disease and IBS amongst others mentioned this time round?

5. The MHRA said on 7 April that the evidence of a link between CSVT and the AZ vaccine was ‘stronger’ than originally thought.7 CSVT usually occurs in conjunction with at least one other risk factor. These may include systemic conditions such as vasculitis or thrombophilia, cerebral or systemic infections, trauma, malignancy, obesity, thyroid disease and inflammatory bowel disease. It would therefore be sensible to enquire about these conditions, because their presence might lower your threshold for referral. However, the British Society of Haematology has raised concerns that vaccine-associated CSVT is being seen in patients with no risk factors, so their absence should not provide false reassurance.

It is a worry , my daughter is 31 and has had thyroid disease since she was 20 ,,, should she ask then if she should have the vaccine or have the phizer do you think !!
Val-55, No-one here can really advise on that. Many members have already had their first AZ vaccine, and some have had their second.

Yes I’ve just read this a few minutes ago. This has been asked many times over the previous weeks and we have always told there is no issue so I feel as a thyroid group we should be told and some sort of explanation as to what happens next.
silverfox7. I think it's important to keep these things in perspective. The article is actually about people who get persistent headache after AZ Covid vaccination.
Given how common thyroid disease is in the general population, there's bound to be a percentage of people that suffer headache after the vaccination who also happen to have thyroid disease (and/or the other ailments mentioned in the article).
Given the many of members here that have already had the vaccine and not suffered persistent headache afterwards, I can only agree with the article author who states 'The vaccine’s benefits significantly outweigh risks'.
Every medicine has potential side effects. We see them listed on the PILs. We have a choice whether to take a medicine and risk the side effects, or suffer the consequences of not taking medication. The same goes for this vaccine. Risk the tiny chance of side effects from the vaccine, or risk getting Covid which we might also pass on to others who refused vaccination. in the end, it can only ever be a personal choice. But better an informed choice than an ignorant one
I understand what you are saying but I do feel that if we are told it’s not an issue and then told it’s changed it should also include why the parameters have changed. I’ve had both mine with no problems but I’m also reading many no longer can speak to their GP so I feel some sort of explanation would help to put uncertain minds at ease.
