With k2 Mk7 drops. I also take calcium and magnesium at dinner. My hip bone mass needs improvement. Will this vitamins intake help with increased bone mass? My doctor in USA suggests taking Fosamex or other meds.

My doctor in Australia has prescribed Vit D 4000 iU/ day, vit K2 and a specialized formula for powdered calcium which contains 3 different sources of calcium, 2 sources of magnesium, zinc, manganese, ascorbic acid, lysine and a bit of vit D and vit K. I also take half of low dose folic acid daily and R- ALA
Bioactivated calcium, but imnot sure we are allowed to post names. It's made by an Australian company Biomedica nutraceuticals. I'm sure you can research something similar in US
Do you have an up to date VitD test result ? Supplementing is often based on test result. How is your B12 level now you have started eating meat again ?
The scaffolding matrix of bone is made of protein. The minerals are deposited into this.So minerals and vitamins are not the only ingredients needed for good bone.
Might not be a good thing to take calcium supplement but take foods high in calcium instead as calcium supplementation in elderly has proven to cause heat disease.Instead try low dose Dhea, 25 mg plus 250mg GABA as these promote growth hormone that increases bone density. Take vit D and magnesium, though.
Hi Karelski, please could you tell me the source of your information, I'm interested in both GABA and Dhea but didn't know they promoted growth hormone nor that growth hormone increased bone density. (I have osteopoenia)
Hello, I advise you to do some kind of sport, whatever you like to increase muscle mass, this will help to get your bones stronger, stay in the sun or light every day, drink calcium added water and adjust your diet
PS My GP advised against calcium unless definitely needed, apparently it can lead to kidney stones. Also I was involved in clinical audit many years ago that showed it's the vitamin D that makes the difference, calcium without vit D did not make a significant difference whereas when vit D was added there was improvement. We did not explore vit D without calcium though by now I am sure that will have been done.
I recently read there was some evidence that taking calcium together with Vit D increased the risk of stroke. It's so hard to know what's for the best.
