When I previously posted on here @SeasideSusie was kind enough to suggest I ask my GP to do an Iron Panel as my blood test results and symptoms indicated low ferritin. I did ask and he didn't seem very interested so I was wondering if anyone could recommend a good private one. I've Googled around and seen the price varies between £4 and £40. Do I need a premium product just for the ferritin assessment? I've also posted my latest blood test results which my GP told me were completely fine. Unfortunately I've become highly suspicious of of him telling me that when advice I've received on here contradicts him. Thanks!

Can Anyone Please Enlighten Me On Iron Panel Tests?

An iron panel is much more than "just for the ferritin assessment?". Just the ferritin test can't tell you if you have iron deficiency and if a GP sees ferritin even at the bottom of the range, (range is often 13-150 or 15-300) then they say you are fine, whereas NICE guidelines say that a ferritin level of less than 30 confirms iron deficiency but most GPs will not follow that guidance.
Medichecks do an iron panel called Iron Blood Test :
medichecks.com/products/iro...
and normal price is £39, there is, of course, the permanent discount of 10% with code from ThyroidUK here:
thyroiduk.org/help-and-supp...
although they do currently have a 20% discount code HEALTHMOT20 but I don't know when that one expires.
Their iron panel tests Serum Iron, Transferrin Saturation (these will show iron deficiency), Ferritin, TIBC and CRP.
