Palpitations : Hi my TSH is 31.2 and ferritin 2... - Thyroid UK
Palpitations
Yes! You need meds/more meds! Are you taking any thyroid meds? What are your T3 and t4 levels (and the ranges)?
Wow how are you functioning with TSH that high?

ferritin 27

In all people, a serum ferritin level of less than 30 micrograms/L confirms the diagnosis of iron deficiency.
I would ask your GP to do an iron panel to confirm iron deficiency and a full blood count to see if you have anaemia.

Symptoms of iron deficiency can mirror or coincide with those in thyroid disease. They include:
Persistent fatigue
Pale skin
Shortness of breath
Headaches
Dizziness
Heart palpitations
Dry skin
Brittle hair and hair loss
Swelling or soreness of the tongue or mouth
Restless legs
Brittle or ridged nails
my TSH is 31.2
Did you request a 25mcg dose increase in your Levo as suggested by SlowDragon 3 days ago?
I have a call booked on the 26th with a doctor so will see what happens...I've actually decided to step up to a 50mcg increase myself ...I've got a lot of weight so from another members idea I agree so I've increased to 150mcg over the last 2 days...as for ferritin it was 11 ...6 months ago and they still didn't give any medication...

Challenge it. See another doctor. Quote the NICE Clinical Knowledge Summary I've given you above. Your copy of your results in your previous post shows that their guidelines say <20 is iron deficiency and between 20-30 is depleted iron store and should be investigated and corrected.
I had similar problems getting help with my ferritin and iron. In the end I decided there was no point in waiting for doctors to help me and my only choice was to help myself. I've never regretted it.
The iron supplements that doctors prescribe can be bought from pharmacies in the UK without a prescription if you know what to ask for. It was learning this that allowed me to actually help myself properly.
Personally, I wouldn't want to take iron supplements knowing just a ferritin level, I would want to know the results from a full iron panel. I wrote about my reasons here :

It is possible to get an iron panel done privately with finger-prick testing :

Just looked and she did a full blood count...and it says mean cell hemoglobin concentrate below range?
You can get more information about what different tests mean in a Full Blood Count from this link :

Below range MCHC suggests that you could be anaemic, or on the way to being anaemic.
People can have iron deficiency with or without anaemia. Iron deficiency always needs to be treated whether it has progressed to anaemia or not.

Hi les121
I had palpitations as well. It was what made me go to the doctor. My tsh was 27 so less than yours but the palpitations were really bad. They woke me up in my bed and felt like my heart was missing beats! It took a long time to settle and only really went away when my dose went to 150. I still get them now and again but nothing like they were. My various aches and pains are less now too so maybe your back will feel better with a dose increase too. I also had a job getting Dr to look at or even consider folate, ferritin etc. Everything feels like a battle sometimes and it comes when you feel at your worst.
Hope you get sorted soon!
It's quite scary isn't it...more so as my daughter has had 3 heart surgeries...but I've bought some liquid iron ...and upped to 150mcg to...so il see how I go...thankyou 😊
Low iron levels can cause palpitations.
T3 can significantly raise ferritin levels

A TSH above 2.0 can result in elevated cortisol levels, which can cause palpitations.
