I thought my Hashis was pretty well under control as I have felt ok (comparatively speaking) over the last few months. I’m on approx 60mg Armour NDT per day (2x 90mg pills cut and divided into 3 doses, 1 per day). Didn’t get my vits tested this time as Ok last time. Hair is weak but that’s about all, and less physically energetic than used to be but I’m 66….
Please let me have your view on results. I have moved house and haven’t seen a doctor for 2 years, though I have sent blood results to his secretary so that he can give me more NDT before I run out. Now that I’ve moved area I might be in trouble as GP here has v bad reputation and I think I’m going to have to fend for myself - with your help please.

So… you’re splitting a 90mg (1.5 grain pill) into 3 (so that would be 30mg each) and taking 2 of the pieces. Why are you cutting up 2 tablets a day when you only need to cut 1? Or have I misunderstood? Curiosity really!
Anyway. I don’t think you’re on enough Armour. I think you need a raise in dosage, possibly to 1.5 grains or 90mg (that would mean you didn’t have to cut it!) although you might want to go a bit slower and raise by a quarter of a grain (15mg) first (though that sounds like a nightmare-cutting-scenario ).
You look undermedicated according to those results.
Thank you for your feedback. Helpful. Basically the dose is 2/3 of a 90mg pill per day = 60mg /day. You are saying I should raise this to 75mg/day in the first instance and see how I get on.Any worries about the high Anti-Thyroidperoxidase reading? And how can I get this under control - presumably by diet? I'm feeling really tired at the moment and my back, neck and joints aren't good.
I see a lot of people reading and referring to the work of Dr Izabeela Wentz as she too is with Hashimioto's Auto Immune Thyroid Disease.
I read it's important to rule out food intolerance lke gluten, wheat, dairy etc, and heal one's gut for optimal thyroid hormone medication results.
If you look on Thyroid UK the harity who support this forum you will find so much detail than it's possible to put in any one reply.
Your results look a little low but it all depends how long you left between last dose and blood draw.
However with NDT you dose to the relief of symptoms and not to fit into a blood test range which was introduced to be used for synthetic thyroid hormone replacements and not NDT .
The range, is simply a guideline, and I find my TSH low suppressed, my T4 a quarter of what it was when on T4 - Levothyroine but my T3 is 4 times the level it was when on T4 - Levothyroxine.
Hi - I’ve cut out gluten, mostly dairy, caffeine (even chocolate) and follow a paleo diet. Think I’ve done what I can there and read I Wendt book. Still have symptoms but I will up the Armour and see what happens. Last time I did I got palpitations but maybe that was then. Thanks for your reply.
Only asthmatic stuff. And Brazil nuts for selenium. All the other tests came in normal or high so I thought I’d pause until winter comes (vitD/k2, magnesium) and then make sure they are well covered. Have been taking some glycine too. Think it’s easier in summer; dreading winter.
