Did everybody see the article in the Daily Mail today about the drugs company being fined for overpricing on liothyronine?

Hopefully the price will come down and doctors will prescribe again, or am I hoping for too much!

Which day's Mail? I haven't read Thursdays or Friday's Mail yet, but I want to read this!!!!!!! About time isn't it? My God how many years did it take???????

The Government has preferred to not diagnose new Hypothyroid patients rather than take on the Pharma companies.

I could cheer but at the same time I just want to curse them for taking so long and putting anything before their patients!

They let us down big time, but at least this is a start.

OK, I found the Mail article and sent a link to it to my GP via email. It is about time isn't it. I can't understand why it took them so long though, there must have been something the government couldn't wriggle out of. But when I can afford to buy my own T3, I find it difficult to understand all the shenanigans! Obviously they were stymied by these new owners of the Pharma company.

Does anyone think that we should be making our own meds here in the UK rather than going abroad to get our supplies?

Is it even possible to do that? Or am I being too naive??

Now we are out of the EU, we have had the problems with Covid Vaccinations etc, on top of the T3 problem which was going on so many years.

Strange how we don’t manufacture our own meds!?

Two out of three currently available liothyronine tablets are manufactured in the UK - Advanz Mercury Pharma and Morningside.

Agreed, it would make a lot of sense if we did, not least because we couldn't be held to ransom again. But more jobs would make sense too.

The company that debranded and made the price rocket do manufacture in the UK and always have done! And, at the time, it was the only liothyronine tablet in the UK.
