Daughter's Thyroid and Hormone Results

Hi

my daughter had some hormone test at the doctors as she is not feeling very good.

They were done on day 21 of her cycle. Whilst there they said they would also check her thyroid. She did not know they were going to do this, but luckily she had not taken her levothyroxine or T3 before the test. She had taken her dose of 100mcg. levo. and 25 mcg. T3 24 hours before the blood test.

I am aware her T3 dose should have been split the day before, but as she did not know they were testing her thyroid levels she did not do this, so her FT3 result could be lower that it actually is.

Her FT4 looks low, or is this because she is taking T3 as well ?

Can any comment please on her thyroid results, also if anyone has any advice regarding her other hormone results.

Yes, taking T3 tends to lower, even suppress, TSH and also tends to lower FT4 as well.

For those of us on combination hormone replacement, it's very individual where we need our individual hormone levels. Some people are fine with FT4 as low as your daughters as long as FT3 is in the upper part of it's range. Some of us need both FT4 and FT3 better balanced in the upper part of their ranges.

Your daughter's FT3 is 66% through range and FT4 is 17% through range. If she doesn't feel well with this combination then it may be that she needs a higher dose of Levo to bring her FT4 up which will also increase her FT3 to a certain extent depending on how much conversion of T4 to T3 she has. She may need to gradually tweak doses to find the right combination for her, but only change one think at a time, never both Levo and T3 together or she wont know which has made the difference.

I'm afraid I can't help with the other results.

Her low progesterone is potentially due to the current status of her current thyroid levels. They usually go hand in hand. Whilst I’m not a pro at deciphering sex hormone levels, I had full symptoms of low progesterone until I got my thyroid levels sorted. I never got it tested but it’s improved a lot since my levels have gotten better.

Most likely. I’ve had to up mine since I started on T3 (I did try without but went back to combo). 150 T4/25 T3 nowadays.
