Demi Jones shared more insight in the side-effects of her thyroid cancer treatment on Saturday, revealing she feels like she has the 'energy levels of a 60-year-old.'

The 22-year-old reality star recently had surgery to remove her thyroid and will have further iodine treatment, and has openly documented her battle on social media.

In a video shared to Instagram Stories, Demi admitted she has 'no motivation' due to the side-effects of her tablets, but added she's unsure whether it could be due to her thyroid being removed as part of her treatment.

My neighbour is 91 she’s up at the crack of dawn gardening then she cleans for a disabled person up the road, comes back has dinner and is off again on the train visiting her daughter the other side of London. I’m in my 60s and if I can Lift my head of the pillow in the morning I consider myself a great achievement- Age has nothing to do with it it must be something else, my other neighbour in his 60s smokes weed and drinks heavily yet even he has more energy then me, he works as a builder and gets picked up every morning at 8am in the builders van. If I think about it too much I’ll feel bitter and think it’s not fair so I try instead to feel happy for them. It can’t be age can it that makes us slow down or when we reach 60 we would all just stop. I don’t even try to work it out! I’m sad today, on my 2nd lot of antibiotics and there making me feel emotional and I’m crying And feeling like giving up x

p.s. request a Free T3 and Free T4 blood test. If GP wont do so, you could get a private one (if you wished).

Dear shaws, I did ask in April when I had a telephone consultation with my endo who refused. She is happy with my results that are now in normal range I hate talking to her she keeps laughing and telling me my brain just needs to catch up. When I finish this 2nd course of antibiotics I’m on for this water infection I will get Medichecks to test me again and try to get a plan of action if I can. Thank you for your reply

Please don't give up TT67....I am sorry to hear that you're having a rough time.

I too feel sad, when I'm feeling unwell...so, I do hope that the infection disappears soon.

You most likely know this, but just incase you don't....if you are under medicated, and, are suffering from Hypothyroidism, one of the many horrible side effects, is depression.

That's a good idea to have a private blood test...perhaps another positive would be to find a better Endo; not easy I know...but they do exist (I had one once, then they moved hospitals....I've not been so lucky since; I am thinking of going private, in my search for a knowledgable and kind Endo ).

Take good care of yourself...push for better, you're worth it! ♡

Bless you for your possitve message, my endo says I’m on enough t4 she says she is confident my tsh will come down to 2 by Christmas. It’s at its lowest ever now at 4.1 but is in range so she won’t consider an increase even though I explained I still feel unwell. Are Drs seeing anyone face to face anymore? I ask as you say your looking for a good endo so please can you let me know if you find one and if it’s a face to face appointment because I may do the same. Thanks again for replying to me x

There is a list of Doctor's who prescribe, or rather, have prescribed, T3 (and T4).If you want to PM me of the area in which you live, I can see if there is one that you can contact.

Or, message Admin and ask for the contact email address (Dionne, I think) and she will send you the list of Doctor's.

I forget sorry, are you on both T4 and T3 medication?

What range are you in for your Free T3?

Apologies if you've mentioned this already...I have had a really long day already lol

I do not convert to T3 very well, so I am on both T4 and T3.

I used to live in North America, so I could get both medications, albeit some Endo's seem to like to reduce the levels, when it's working well (I have no idea why).

Now I live in Europe, and it's hard to obtain T3, but T4 is available OTC.

I hope some of this helps a little...if not, sorry.

It's so frustrating to see that kind of misunderstanding being disseminated to millions of people. (It is, of course, the doctor's fault for not educating themselves and subsequently the patient properly.)

I worry for the people who are undertreated who think the same thing and what they wil do. I hope it doesn't empower them to stop taking their Levo.

In a kind way, I hope that she needs T3; we need more powerful and loud people to speak up for us to get us heard.

I have to admit I just scanned the article, but what I took from it was that it was an example that many, many can relate to, and getting the message out publicly without agenda is a good thing.

Absolutely! I'm glad she's speaking about it publicly. And without agenda, as you say.

I just worry that it's being put down as "side-effects" rather than the infinitely more likely reason that she (and many many others) are undermedicated.

Not convinced there is absolutely no agenda. A lot of people get something out of their social media involvement. Like influencers.

Agreed. There will be an indirect payment from someone, somewhere but I can't imagine anyone would be paying her to talk about "side-effects" from levo directly.

...

Unless, of course, in 6 months time she is "MIRACULOUSLY CURED" by some sort of smoothie or what have you.

I did laugh at the “levels of a 60 year old” comment she made … funny how the older we get the older “old” seems if you know what I mean.

I follow Demi on Tik Tok and she had seemingly recovered very well and quickly too. However, I did suspect it would not be long lasting.

Poor girl, we know the path she is now trudging along and it’s not an easy one x

I agree with others about the age thing - my mother is 96 and has more energy than I have, and has hardly ever been ill in her entire life!

Despite my adenoma and surgery at 27 I'm so thankful I didn't go on thyroid hormone until I was 30 and regret going on it immediately when the endo suggested I take it. I would rather have burned the other side out before going on Levo.

I think it's safe to say that Demi Jones has an ignorant or lazy doctor. I am betting that her doc has not evaluated her FT3 level or FT3/rT3 ratio, critical nutrient levels like ferritin, and/or has not balanced other hormones like leptin, estrogen, and progesterone.
