Needing some Advice on getting better
I'd go back and ask for an immediate increase in your dose with retesting in 6-8 weeks.
If he refuses can you find another Dr?
I don’t think increasing it is the answer cause I even felt worse on 50mg that I was on its something that’s not right in my body that’s causing all theses werid symptoms
It's very common to find that increasing hormone replacement can be difficult when left undermedicated for a long time.
You can try smaller increments; 12.5mcg at a time or splitting the dose through the day.
I’m thinking the cold spots is more of a vitamin deficiency with the pins and needles and burning that I’m experiencing I mean I’m on 25mg right now and that’s the lowest it goes
You can split a tablet in half.
25mcg will not be enough to regain OR sustain your health. If you're having difficulty tolerating the hormone replacement then for now you need to find a way to make it work.
So splitting your dose throughout the day may be 'easier' on your system or increasing in smaller steps might help. Or maybe both!
Vitamin deficiencies are really common with hypos. Have you had B12, Ferritin, Folate, and Vit D tested?
Back in February my vitamin d levels where low but the rest was fine but things can change by then cause we are almost in July now
And he only told me he will test my tsh levels again in July but that’s not what my problem is at all I’m having pins and needles cold spots dizziness burning skin it’s scary to me
Can you do a private test for TSH, T4, &T3?
How does that work exactly a private test
I can see you're in the US. In the UK there are private companies where we send of a blood sample and pay for the results! It's very straightforward, but I'm not sure how this would work in the US.
What are the test called that I way I can lock it up from my end
Look it up from my end
I use thriva. Many others use Blue Horizon, or Medichecks, or Monitor my health.
I got by my insurance where I go in and they test my levels I just need a new doctor to do that cause I really think he’s not really worldly cause his a med student
What about the cold spots and burning all over my body and pins and needles what is that all about I mean does that have to do with a vitamin deficiency and itching
Itching skin can be a hypo symptom.
Pins and needles could be low B12 and/or low ferritin.
I'd suggest retesting your key vitamins and your thyroid (TSH, T4, &T3), and starting a new post.
Without results we're really just stabbing in the dark hoping to happen upon an answer.
Best of luck! 🍀
Thank you so much you have been great I just wish this doctor would understand my needs more and yes I’m considering getting a new doctor if doesn’t do his job
I don't know how much credence your GP would give to Thyroid UK but I imagine there are thyroid charities in the US. You could research. I'm sure they have suggested tests you could ask your Dr to do.
Also consider taking a different brand of thyroxine. It may be the fillers in the tablets causing a reaction.
I’ve done that already and I’m now on the name brand medication called synthyroid it’s the same as levothyroxine and it’s 25mg and I’m still having the same effects as the other meds I’m on so it can’t be the pills I could look into it and see what I can fine for a private test
I’m probably going to change my doctor cause this one will not listen at all to me
Good idea. I think that's your best move.
I think so as well I just have to find a new doctor I’m going to be making sure of it tomorrow I really wanted to get referred out but his making excuses not to refer me out it’s silly I’m like your not even checking me right but I thank you very much for talking to me
You're welcome!
I have the burning skin sensation and off and on pins and needles (im thyoid-less) I was diagnosed with small fiber neuropathy of no cause but I feel its related to my thyroid hormones.
Do the test the grey goose posted and go from there.
