Switching to Homoeopathic

Hello Everyone

I was diagnosed with a underactive active thyroid 4 years ago and put on levothyroxine 25mg over the past 4 years this has been increased to 75mg however my TSH levels have always remained high 26.2 and the DR can't seem to reduce it

Last Christmas I had enough and surprisingly went to a homoeopathic DR I was extremely sceptical about the treatment but felt desperate to try something .

I came off levothyroxine and switched to the homeopathic medicine surprisingly within 3 months I went for my blood test and my T4 is Normal and TSH levels have dropped to 9.2

I understand that TSH levels are not still Normal but I do see light and the end of the tunnel as this has been the lowest I have seen

I have another blood test today and am hoping to see if the TSH has dropped any lower

Wish me luck

And all the best to you all

Regards

Lost soul

i'm curious .. Why didn't the Dr increase your levothyroxine to a higher dose ? a dose of 100-150 mcg Levo is perfectly usual, and if not on enough, then TSH won't return to normal levels.

(Although it is unusual to still have TSH at 26 when taking 75mcg... )

What was the homeopathic remedy you were prescribed ?

I was thinking the same thing. :)

Hi

I was given the following homeopathic medicine

Silicea 30

Phytolacca Berry Q

Damiana Q

Thyroidinum

Auvedric medicine

Salajeet

Ashwagandra

Hope it helps 🙂

I think the Ashwagandha is likely to be having the effect on thyroid .. it affects cortisol i think, and can have effect of either increasing or lowering thyroid hormones.. i'n not sure if it is always possible to predict which way these effects will go though. healthline.com/nutrition/as... ashwagandhas-effects

Hi.

I’m interested to in what the remedies were?

I am one that finds it hard to fathom that a dose of drops diluted by oceans can actually do anything but I admit I use homeopathy for short term issues and in my dogs. I have had some success. You can’t placebo a dog and her allergies were greatly reduced by it.

🤷‍♀️ Be interested to know more and also, as Tattybogle asked. Why did your dr not raise you meds? What were your other results?

yes , i'm not knocking 'homeopathy' either.. During 'Foot and Mouth'... when the army came round to kill them all.....i've seen a whole flock of sheep with lambs calmed and quietened by a bach flower remedy while they waited..... somewhere in the UK there is a squad of soldiers who saw it too.. they were in tears because it was so much less horrible to do than all the other times they had to do it.

You can't 'placebo' a terrified sheep .

Oh how awful! That must have been dreadful to see!

'Twas far worse for the owner of the sheep .. takes generations to build up a bloodline that is how you want it.... If i remember correctly they didn't even have foot and mouth .. but next door farm got it so they had to go too.... it was rather 'apocalyptic' at the time .. massive fires burning for weeks on the skyline , and no one allowed to go out of the gate.

Yes. I understood how devastating it was. Bit like the BSE crisis. Absolutely heart breaking for the farmers.

Quite a few farmers committed suicide after that. They couldn't live with what they had seen and been forced to allow. Barbaric.

You can't placebo a dog, but you can the owner. Also natural progression, and regression to the mean still happen with animals.

Sorry SimonWaters I don’t quite understand. Yes it would be possible to placebo an owner and I expect a dog could get over an allergy One of mine never did. It did get better but only using certain remedies. If I stopped for a few weeks it came back again and she needed antibiotics/hibiscrub and piriton. This went on for her entire 15 years. Can you reason that? It’s not a challenge it’s a question.

One of the problems we often see is the failure to distinguish between "drops diluted by oceans" and "every other remedy" (using remedy as something other than standard medicine).

We see what perhaps should be called herbal remedies spoken of as being homeopathic remedies.

My personal opinion is that I cannot see any way in which ultra-dilute substances could possibly work but am open to considering anything else on its own merits. Shame if using the word "homeopathy" indiscriminately confuses discussion.

I see your point Helvella. I was of course referring to homeopathy remedies, but i suppose it would have been clearer to have stipulated the difference between the dogs and the lambs experiences.

Although I am sure the point was more ‘alternative therapies’ really. Disappointed not to have more info yet on the homeopathic remedies Pauper was recommended. Interesting albeit controversial subject.

75mcg is only one step up from starter dose levothyroxine….so hardly surprising that you remained hypothyroid

Likely to have low vitamin D, folate, ferritin and B12 when hypothyroid

Do you have autoimmune thyroid disease? Aka Hashimoto’s diagnosed by high thyroid antibodies?

Always test thyroid as early as possible in morning before eating or drinking anything other than water

That's good too , but it wasn't that mix .. i forget what he used.... might have ben Aspen + something else ?

Good luck and keep us (me) posted. Whilst often frowned on, more natural medical options can be very successful at least based on anecdotal evidence. Hopefully yours is one such outcome.
