Help with medichecks results

Hello everyone ☺️

I'd be really grateful for some interpretation of these recent Medicheck results please?

I wanted to prove to my GP that I have hashimotos and typical my antibodies are over range on this test (see attached). But when GP did test a couple of weeks ago my antibodies were fine!

Based on these new results guys should I be on medication as I'm taking nothing at the moment other than vitamins that have kindly been recommended on here xx

Are you supplementing with anything?

I would want Folate in double figures.

B12 is fine

Vit D is recommended to be 100-150nmol.

Ferritin is recommended to be half way through range, so 82 with that range.

Previous posts mention that you have Hashi's but at the moment you won't get a diagnosis and a prescription, your TSH would need to be over range with raised antibodies for that.

@SeasideSusie thank you for coming back to me.....much appreciated 👍

I've been mulling over some questions , I was wondering if you wouldn't mind taking a look x

Folate

Do you think I should take a folic acid supplement on top of the Thorne Basic B complex? I'm only taking 1 x capsule a day of the Thorne Basic B.

Ferritin

I'm just restarting Floradix Iron drink as I experience heavy bleeding each month for around four days. I'm just wondering if I should take it every day to help with the Ferritin?

Vitamin D

I'm using the Better you Vitamin D/K spray based on my levels should I have more pumps?

Constipation

I was wondering if I could take more magnesium? I take 400mg of magnesium citrate daily but still get constipated 🥴

Hashimotos

Previous bloods show I have hashimotos.

The Medichecks blood test you kindly looked at (see results above) does show antibodies over range...........sorry I'm confused 🤔

Current list of supplements I'm taking

Morning

Thorne Basic B - 1 a day

Vitamin C

Selenium 200ug

Floradix - hour before any food or drink

Garlic

Probeotic

Evening

Magnesium citrate - 400mg

Zinc picolate

Vitamin D/K spray - 3000

Cod liver oil

SlowDragon

Hope you don't mind me tagging you....I was just wondering if you wouldn't mind taking a look at my blood results from Medichecks....do my T3/T4 look ok?

Previous posts have suggested I should be on Levo....I'm confused 🤔 xx

Folate

Do you think I should take a folic acid supplement on top of the Thorne Basic B complex? I'm only taking 1 x capsule a day of the Thorne Basic B.

No. Your folate level is 8.4 (2.9-14.5). Folate is recommended to be at least half way through range, with that range that would be 8.7.

However, that is the smallest folate range we see here on the forum.

Normally when we see a range that just says >X.Y we say aim for double figures, but Medichecks range is actually 2.9-14.5 so you can only go by that.

Maybe do another full test at another time but use Blue Horizon who have a very different range for their folate (8.83-60.8 when I used them about 6 or 7 months ago).

If you do want to see your folate level higher then I would just take a low dose folate supplement a couple of days a week, I do that and take HealthLeads 400mcg Folate 2 or 3 times a week.

Ferritin

I'm just restarting Floradix Iron drink as I experience heavy bleeding each month for around four days. I'm just wondering if I should take it every day to help with the Ferritin?

Sorry, as iron is so complicated I can't comment on any iron supplement. If no iron deficiency or anaemia is present then to raise ferritin level my advice is to get it from a food source, eg eating liver regularly, maximum 200g per week due to it's high Vit A content, also liver pate, black pudding, and including lots of iron rich foods in your diet

Vitamin D

I'm using the Better you Vitamin D/K spray based on my levels should I have more pumps?

How many pumps are you taking? You need 3 pumps of the Vit D/K2 spray to give 3,000iu and that should be enough I would have thought. If you are already taking 3 pumps then try adding one more pump (total 4,000iu) and retest in 3 months.

Constipation

I was wondering if I could take more magnesium? I take 400mg of magnesium citrate daily but still get constipated

Are you taking a tablet or capsule form of magnesium citrate? If so consider taking the powder form (Natural Calm Original magnesium citrate is what I take) and gradually increase until it helps. I weigh out what I need because just using a spoon you can't get an accurate amount every time and too much will cause diarrhoea.

I replied above, based on your current results:

Previous posts mention that you have Hashi's but at the moment you won't get a diagnosis and a prescription, your TSH would need to be over range with raised antibodies for that.

With Hashi's hormone levels fluctuate.

In this post from last year:

healthunlocked.com/thyroidu...

your antibodies were very high and SlowDragon confirmed Hashi's. However, the NHS wont treat until TSH goes over range coupled with raised antibodies so even though your antibodies were very high last year your TSH was in range.

Your current results show less Hashi's activity with lower TSH, raised Tg antibodies and in range TPO antibodies, so again you wont get a diagnosis but you do still have Hashi's.

Sorry missed that you tagged me

Previous post shows high TPO and high TG antibodies

healthunlocked.com/thyroidu...

So even if TPO antibodies are now within range you still have autoimmune thyroid disease

Are you on strictly gluten free diet?

Or lactose free

Wondering how/why antibodies now low

Vitamin D obviously been supplementing to improve
