Still unwell and not sure if results are ok. Help again please.

If you don’t mind helping me again, I would very much value your opinion. I have given as much information as I think you might need but please do ask if you have any questions. Also, if you don’t think this post is appropriate here because it is not directly related to Thyroid, I can remove it

I need to return to see my GP because on average I get sick at least 1 day every fortnight but I feel that I will be fobbed off yet again, so I want to go armed with knowledge but I’m finding it difficult to research online

After my Blue Horizon blood tests showed raised Ferritin and CRP levels, I went to the GP for further tests (she wasn’t too happy that I had been elsewhere). When the results were back, I was told by the receptionist that they were “Abnormal but no action to take.” (CRP 10 mg/L. - ESR 28 mm/h)

. They did eventually give me an extra 25mcg of Levothyroxine

I know that my test results can vary. Previously, I have even been hospitalised twice and given intravenous antibiotics (3 for 8 days (Jan 2017) & 4 for 5 days (Oct 2019)) because my infection makers were high but I was discharged without a conclusive diagnosis.

In Aug 2019 I was told I had Hypogammaglobulinemia (no discussion or explanation) - IgM 0.2 g/L & IgA 0.4 g/L. Although, amyloidosis has been mentioned, no conclusive diagnosis/cause has been reached.

I also have had ‘deranged’ liver function results since at least 2013. The serum gamma GT level ranges from 120 u/L – 749 u/L. (Sept 2020 – 332 u/L)

I take Tegretol for Bipolar so it has always been expected but because of feeling poorly for so long, I am worrying about now. The GP almost expects it now so they never mention it - by-the-way I never drink alcohol!

Thank you

Hi Dunawori

I think many of us can relate only too well to being fobbed off by doctors. :(

Can I just ask—have you posted here before using a different user name? I can only see posts from you written about 7 years ago but your post above reads as though you’ve visited more recently?

I looked at your profile to see whether I could see what your raised ferritin results actually were but couldn’t see that you’d posted them.

You might like to screenshot your recent Blue Horizon results (making sure to crop off your name and any other identifying details) and attach them in your reply?

How much levothyroxine are you taking now? Do you know if you have Hashimoto’s Disease? Just wondering as I know it’s possible for Hashimoto’s to exacerbate bipolar but unfortunately many GPs these days don’t even know the basics about thyroid conditions. :(

Thank you for bringing this to my attention. I didn't realise that I had used an old account. I have now posted onto my most recent account. Yes, I had posted earlier this year and SlowDragon advised me to go for tests at Blue Horizon. Suddenly things have moved on for me but sadly, not with my doctors

No, you’re not alone with that, sadly. :(
