What should I do with these iron results?

I've just received blood test results back for my iron. I stopped taking supplements 7 days before the test and am currently taking 40mg of Ferrous Bisglycinate daily (on an empty stomach, around 10pm).

March 25

Iron - 13.7 (6.6 - 26) 36.6% of the way through the range

Total iron binding capacity - 58 (41 - 77) 47% of the way through the range

Transferrin saturation - 24% (20 - 55)

Ferritin - 64 (13 - 150) 37% of the way through the range

May 11

Iron - 27.1 (6.6 - 26) over the range

Total iron binding capacity - 55 (41 - 77) 38% of the way through the range

Transferrin saturation - 49% (20 - 55)

Ferritin - 97 (13 - 150) 61% of the way through the range

I was thinking I could drop down to 20mg (daily or every other day) and test again in 6-8 weeks. Does anyone have any advice?

Hey there again ;

Sounds like a plan -

though all I know is that I feel at my best when my ferritin is around 100 :

Do you feel any better and has the move to NDT been of any help with symptoms ?

Hi Pennyannie

Thanks for your reply 😊

With regard to symptoms, I’m feeling fatigued and foggy headed but I suspect that's because the NDT hasn't yet had time to bed in/I'm not on the right dose yet. I’ve been on 2 grains a few weeks and will get another blood test at the 6-8 week mark. I suspect I might be due for an increase but glad my iron levels are looking better.
