Hi all

My b12 and folate are not the best.

I know nothing about all this because I’ve been Learning about my underactive thyroid

But Trying to keep it simple as possible I like to boost my levels because I’ve not got long for my back surgery.

I’m not sure if I only need to buy b12 only or B12 and folate?.

How much to I need to take and where do you get it from I’ve had a few links but I’m a bit confused at the moment with it all. I’ve been taking b-complex from December.

Thanks

Before you supplement with B12, ask GP to check that you do not have Pernicious Anaemia which is another autoimmune disease. It can be serious if undiagnosed.

If you do have P.A. that would mean you have to have a B12 injection every 3 months as there will have been changes in the stomach which means we cannot absorb B12. It is a serious disease if not diagnosed.

Many of us, once we have one autoimmune disease can develop others. All will have the need of supplements.

I’m having a very bad time with my doctor with my thyroid problem

And I can’t cope starting over again

I’m waiting to see a Endo also.

It is a strain if we have to wait for blood tests for this, that and anything else. At least we now have access through the internet.

I am not surprised you may be having a 'bad time' with your doctor. The reason is that few seem to be knowledgeable about anything to do with hypothyroidism. That's the benefit of this forum, we can ask and get an answer. Many of us 'do it ourselves' and by asking questions and getting good answers we can improve our health immensely.

I shall give you a link to where you can get a private 'home blood draw'. Make sure you are well hydrated a couple of days before and hands/arms are warm on the day.

Cursor down the page on the following link from our main website. The staff work in the background trying to change the attitudes of doctors and endocrinologists.

When we eventually 'hit the bulls' eye' we feel well with no symptoms. It isn't an instant thing but slow and steady can reap rewards, i.e. feel well with symptoms relieved.

Thank you I can’t do finger prick blood tests I’ve got a blood phobia.

I’ve tried this on my private blood test

Never again 🙈

I managed to get it done like you have it

In the doctors.

The results in the picture is from the 27th April Tuesday.

It looks like there’s not enough time to sort it out before my back surgery then

I was hoping to get away with supplements for now.

But that’s not possible than and my folate?.

I need to be off b-complex for 4-5 months for a good b12 blood test

In it thanks.
